Final fantasy VII Ultimania - The artbooks
No one asked for it, but I'm making a post about the different artbooks released for FF7 Remake. I'm talking about the French editions that I own, I don't know about the English and Japanese versions, but it gives you an idea.
(It's almost as complicated as understanding the different versions of Kingdom Hearts.)
I tag @demial4 and @fluoxetinehcl because we talked about it a little in a message.
FINAL FANTASY VII ULTIMANIA
This one is the oldest. It came out before the remake, so it doesn't take that into account. It's very focused on the story, the scenarios, the characters, and what happens in each game.
There are timelines and notes to show which games the characters appear in. The book includes Advent Children.
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE ULTIMANIA
Apparently there is a "plus" version with intergrade
This is an official guide.
I really see this one as a complement to the video game. It's intended for the player, to know the skills of the enemies, the maps, the secret levels etc. There are character presentations and lore but really for me it has an interest if we want to use it in game.
He still has some artwork.
And there are some cool storyline comparisons to the original game.
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE MATERIAL ULTIMANIA
(They need to calm down with the titles, they're getting ridiculously long.)
My favorite.
This one for me is the best if you are interested in the lore, concept art, graphic design and how they thought about creating the game.
Perfect for getting information's lore for fanfictions ;)
For example, in my fanfic, I was looking for a design for a t-shirt, and I found it on this page. It's silly, but I think it's cool.
And the concept art of the locations are usefull.
I finally got the Kingdom Hearts Memorial Ultimania.
This book was supposed to be THE BOOK to get ready for KH3 so a bit late, I guess. The first thing I did was to check the character relationship chart (or as I like to call it, the Xehanort Cheat Sheet) and I'm cackling like crazy.
Extremely subtle.

You may view the Ultimania here, once the Internet Archive comes back online.

Google Lens'd: Kairi (KH2 Ultimania)
Once again, a reminder of how awesome Kairi is in the KH Trinity. Eternal shame upon Nomura for butchering her in the series beyond.
bro... never knew the internet archive had scans of all (if not most?) the kh ultimanias.....
So I was looking at the original story boards for the end sequence. Super cute. But... notice one major change?
SO YOU ARE TELLING ME WE ALMOST DIDN'T GET THAT KISS AT THE END?! CAN YOU IMAGINE
