Figs fought this fight like he was the champion. Heading into their first rematch, Figs said he wanted to fight a much more conservative style like Usman to protect the belt. It ended up with him being unable to pull the trigger on Moreno until he tried to force it and ended up getting dropped. Here, he just went to the leg kick (which seems to be team Cejudo’s main weapon of choice for their challengers). The outside leg kick really took away Moreno’s best weapon, his jab, for long stretches of the fight. Without it, Figs was able to get his offense off because Moreno would try to close the distance without a range tool. Moreno still found ways to get to his jab, land the body kick, score in long exchanges and such (and I had him winning 3-2 cause I think that last knockdown wasn’t really a knockdown) but it was a coin flip decision. Moreno definitely got away from the things (forward movement) that won him the 2nd fight but I think a large part of that was the leg kicks. Plus I don’t think he was able to eat all the same shots (he was def taking his eyes off incoming fire more here).
