LOL this sport is so fucking dumb
Ciryl Gane stops Derrick Lewis in the 3rd round
As one sided as they come. Lewis landed something like 4 strikes in the entirety of the fight. Just battered the shit out of Derrick Lewis’ legs and body. Just another smart composed performance from Gane. By the 3rd round Lewis was completely lost, had no idea how to close distance or initiate an exchange without charging forward head first. By the end of it, Gane felt comfortable just letting his hands go at range and tagging Lewis who just could not defend himself. He was doubled over along the cage in pain multiple times.
Gane wins the fake UFC heavyweight belt. Now pay Ngannou his damn money.
Jose Aldo dominates, takes UD over Pedro Munhoz.
Just another fantastic performance from Jose Aldo. Man is just performing at an insane level despite being 17 years into his career. He’s still so damn sharp. The body punching is still some of the very best in the sport. His jab might actually still be the best in the sport. Despite moving to 135lbs so late, he’s looking stronger there with every fight. What’s also really helping him is that he’s a lot looser than he was as champ at 145lbs. Lots of big explosive movements. His hands flow a lot better, he’s really changing the speed on his strikes and really letting the fight come to him.
Jose Aldo still being this good is unfair. Dude has slowed down but the skills are still there and it’s amazing to see. 1-0 Aldo thru 1.

Vicente Luque submits Michael Chiesa in the 1st!!!!!!
Absolutely brilliant! Chiesa starts off the fight on the back foot, landing a nice 1-2 that makes Luque start to chase. As Luque sits down, Chiesa shoots under and takes him down. He gets to Luque’s back and attempts a RNC but loses the leg and Luque is able to turn around. Chiesa tries to build to his base and Luque locks up a D’arce. He sits back and Chiesa sinks in deeper. He’s forced to tap. Amazing win for Luque. Luque is officially the most deserving contender at welterweight!
My questions heading into Lewis-Gane tonight.
For Lewis, what can/does he do to create the opening that gets him the KO? Lewis entire game is built around the idea that at some point his opponent will implode for fear of his power. Against Blaydes, that looked like Blaydes shooting for a terrible TD despite the fact he was beating Lewis on the feet pretty definitively. Against Volkov, that was Volkov continuing to throw while super tired for fear that Lewis would just charge forward unless he kept something in his face. But Gane is perhaps the most composed fighter Lewis has ever fought. He’s controlling in a way I don’t think Lewis has seen since maybe JDS. He’s going to have to do more than just flash a big right hand if he wants to create that one big moment and I’m not sure if he has it in him to do that.
For Gane, what does it look like when he implodes? All heavyweights implode eventually. Sometimes its out of fear (see everyone Ngannou has knocked out), sometimes out of sheer stupidity (Werdum vs Stipe), and sometimes its from being desperate to hop on every finishing opportunity presented to you (Fedor vs Werdum/Hendo). Also Joe Grasso. What does Gane’s implosion look like? I don’t think Lewis is the guy to expose what makes Gane come undone but he’s got a knack for forcing otherwise more skilled fighters to fall into his game so maybe.
“It smells like freedom in here Houston!” Johnny Munoz
Apparently freedom smells like a super spreader event.
