“Ze healing is not as revarding as the hurting.” That quote from TF2′s medic sums up how I feel about playing healers. True, it’s fun to heal the man who is about to kill your enemy, but sawing through the enemy’s bones is arguably even more fun. Most healers are like ‘gods protect us’ or quiet reserved nurturing types who are like ‘I must protect everyone’, but not the medic. He’s got a couple screws loose and loves experimenting on his allies. And as stated before, he enjoys hurting his foes more than he enjoys saving lives (which is obviously supposed to be his job). Also he has the proverbial ace up his sleeve in the form of the übercharge which is one heck of a buff for both him and his ally. I guess what I’m saying is that when I play as healers in RPGs or build healers in RPGs, I tend to make them more aggressive builds who can actually kill stuff if need be. Sure, if my buddy’s about to die, I’ll help out, but I want to kill a few enemies too. Medic is such a nice departure from the stereotypical do-no-harm healer archetype (often it’s that one lightly-built girl with the staff who only knows healing spells). As if I needed even more reasons to love the medic’s views on medicine and healing, he lost his medical license after vanishing a man’s skeleton. That must have been a sight to see.
