#7Â Â Navy Photographers in World War 2
This post has an additional photo of a Wave photographer working in Suitland, Maryland. The photo of the photographer leaning over the edge of a plane is "staged".  There was no info on where or when, but I believe it as at Photo School in Pensacola - from its location in a series of photographs.
The photos of the cameraman in the jungle are also staged, but on Rendova Island in the Solomans.
The photo of the VD-1 insignia is one of several copies I found. Fleet Air Photographic Squardon - VD-1 was the Navy Photo Squadron that operated, with others in the Pacific during WW2. I have seen records and photographs that trace the squadron from the Solomons to Okinawa. The final photos in this posting are some initial photos of VD-1 operations. More will follow in the future.
