     ❝...❞ Did Nero just give him a piece of gum? ❝I...what?❞ He could not eat it? Why not? Was there something special about this single piece of candy that he was unaware of? Some magical abilities that might be contained within it so hidden, he could not sense even an ounce of mana wafting from its sugary goodness? The more he stared at that piece of gum at the center of his palm, the more he began to question his own thought of it being anything but what it was. ❝...Emperor of Roses...are you...keeping gum like you would a favored stone in your pocket...?❞ Was it now as hard as one? So inedible that you could probably hurl it at someone’s head and knock them out cold? Questions.

     There’s a pang of irritation but he bites his sharp tongue,  “  Curious, aren’t we?  ”  Despite royal’s smile, there’s a certain tension in the room the longer her hands caress golden tips.  That is until he turns his head ever so slightly as if to politely excuse himself.

“You may. I don’t believe it will be very interesting to you. It’s just my hand, after all.”

         “  Well, I suppose you could say that.     After all, I am to be crowned king of the Devildom.  But you can just call me Diavolo.  ”

       “Someone special to my heart? If you mean a significant other, I’m afraid I do not have the time for that. However, there is someone...” Yes, someone he held quite dear to him. Hand resting upon his chin, the Caster gave a nod and hummed, sharp features noticeably softening. “I believe Rider would approve of my socks. I do not know if he would wear any... He wasn’t quite agreeable when he had to wear pants, so I can imagine him not being too fond of socks.” Pausing, he reminisced over the memory, remembering how frantic his younger self had been to ensure that bloody idiot wore pants. The last thing he wanted to deal with in a Holy Grail War was figuring out how to get his Servant out of trouble for indecent exposure. “But he wouldn’t be upset by a t-shirt with a banana on it.”

Karna smiled briefly. “I fell asleep quickly enough. It was a hot day, and Adhiratha’s voice was a patient rumble above me. He knew how to be a storyteller, my father, and I was an eager listener. I woke when we headed home, determined to do better, but he said I was a child and it was alright for me to sleep the first time. I held the memory close, after I had to leave home to rule Anga as a king. Does that fulfill your wish?”

       Most people would have been given the lecture of a lifetime for approaching him and putting their hands in his hair, yet Nero was one of the few exceptions. Even if she nearly broke his back with her excitement whenever she saw him; not that she wasn’t the first Servant to hurt one of his body parts from a friendly greeting. Having his hair braided though, it was relaxing as it was a change of pace in comparison to everything that happened within Chaldea. Eyes falling to a close, the tired Caster tried to force himself to stay awake until she could finish plaiting his hair but... before she could even put on a band to secure the ends, he had dozed off into a quiet slumber.
