that's so cool, you and I have the same typewriter! I love that royal. as far as my research has shown me, this typewriter is from 1954. 50s and some 60s and 70s typewriters did have dual color ribbon options, especially those by royal, sears and corona.
also, super recommend using a soft bristle toothbrush to clean and dust the inside of the machine. i collect typewriters and dry toothbrush clean them every so often
ay, typewriter twinsies! :D based on my serial number im in 1953 but they made the same model for a few years, it looks like. I am loving the dual ribbon.
and a toothbrush would work so much better! I was using Q-tips. ^^; it’s got a LOT of old dirt build up but i got some of it clean. I might look into seeing if i can take some of it apart so i can get at the insides better. But i fixed a bent key and a few sticky ones, so far so good!
