I donāt usually set resolutions, but I am literally doing so for 2021. Iāll be setting a daily specimen from type in the shop, working towards a specimen book and daily journal. I started with Parsons, designed by Will Ransom. Nicknamed āthe man from Snohomishā he started printing in Washington state then packed up for Chicago to learn from Fred Goudy. Parsons was designed with extra long ascenders and descenders which were overused so much that the foundry included a warning to avoid such crassness. Ransom didnāt tackle much more type designāperhaps broken-hearted at the misuse of Parsonsābut he went on to correspond with and catalog many private presses of the day, creating an invaluable record. ..... Wishing you a new yearāwith just enough ascenders and descenders. #metaltype #willransom #typecrush #printtherapy (at Tacoma, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJhcXfYhQq3/?igshid=1qsqfs4oicdxv
