What if Erik has a sweet tooth the size of Russia, but can’t accept it being handed to him? He will go out and buy his own any day of the week, at any time, but he won’t touch a chocolate bar sitting on the counter with his name on it. Even Charles can’t convince him to take a wrapped bar from him, because all Erik sees is Shaw, and it’s one of the few things he’s never gotten over, and it’s not particularly high on his list of issues to overcome, so everyone just accepts it starts putting money in a jar that’s labeled “Erik’s chocolate fund” whenever they notice he’s had a rough week and he has no shame about taking the gift of money and buying chocolate for himself, especially since he’ll always leave a bar for the kids, too.
