Last month, @lillyghalichi posted about how she went in for under eye filler but soon noticed bruising and discoloration in her under eye area. Vascular occlusion is caused by an accidental injection of filler into the artery or around the artery. This results in the blockage of blood flow, leading to tissue damage and tissue death. In addition to skin necrosis, there have been reported cases of strokes, blindness, and even death. ✨How to Reduce Risk✨ The most important thing in trying to minimize the risk of vascular occlusion is to visit an expert injector who is highly knowledgable in facial anatomy. As an injector, mastering your anatomical skills is crucial because without it, you can seriously harm your patients. Injection techniques is also helpful in avoiding a vascular occlusion. I always use a cannula to inject the filler because utilizing a blunt tip does not pierce the skin. It effectively minimizes the risk of accidentally puncturing a blood vessel.
