Deacon had almost considered replying to Tyler’s text with a middle finger emoji and taking the kids back home. They’d all been over at his mother’s house for a movie night with his sister, Sydney, when he’d gotten Tyler’s texts. The thing was, he was genuinely excited for his friend, and their banter was as normal as ever. If Tyler asked for his help, no matter what he’d said, Deacon would show up. Ty was his best friend, after all, so he loaded gave the kids a kiss goodnight and climbed up into his truck to make the drive over.
He had only had one beer at his mom’s place, so it wasn’t like he was anywhere close to being intoxicated. Swinging by his house first to grab a couple shirts, Deacon grabbed a few beers from his fridge for the two to split. He arrived in one piece, sent his mom a text that he’d let her know when he was coming back over, and knocked on Tyler’s door. As soon as it opened, Deacon held out the shirts on the hangers and raised an eyebrow at his buddy. “You should just try showin’ up without a shirt. My momma said that’d be the best way to win a girl over, which, by the way, it’s weird that my momma thinks your abs are so perfect.”Â
