i'm rewatching some episodes from the first seasons -since i don't know what else to watch now- and put on the second one, Deep Throat, and maaaan, their old voices took me by surprise jsjjdjs.
i get why watching foreign movies or series in their original languages is fundamental, and i do plan to watch some episodes in english! But, waw! plus the old vibes of the show, the younger actors, their stories just beginning, i was also hit with the first impressions the voices gave me when i started watching the show. Looking back on all that makes it feel even more "nostalgic", even though i started the series in december last year.
i remember being kinda mad when they changed Scully's voice at first, but i ended up liking it better, despite it being a little deeper than the original. Hearing her first dub-actress' voice was like another way of seeing younger scully, not knowing that the x files has for her,..
i was also annoyed when they changed Mulder's voice later, and altough i got used to it, hearing his first dub-actor's voice got me like "that's my mulder!" I do like his first voice better. Gotta admit that there was something familiar in his second voice, that I couldn't quite put my finger on until i rewatched Arcadia and he slipped, then i realized (here comes a fun fact), his voice actor is Shrek in the latinamerican spanish dub!!! Alfonso Obregón is truly a talented actor, holy cow.
anyway, just giving the spotlight to dubbing, as i always try to do :]. The other characters' voices changed a lot more than Mulder and Scully's, I guess that's another thing you get with foreign series that last years and that have lots of chapters, and this is not to dismiss any voice actor! they're all very good. Although I don't like change, trying to guess which character from my childhood i'm hearing through a new one is very fun! You'll have me tilting my head like a fox listening to the mice underneath until i yell "That's Legolas!", as i did with Byers in season 5, and as i've done with many other characters from other movies and series.
The dubbing in this series isn't perfect (i. e. inconsistency in nicknames/alias, straight up changing measures and code numbers, skipping jokes like that one time in Small Potatoes, changing the tone of insults, though i don't think this one is that grave, but that's for another conversation), but i find it very enjoyable and i think it deserves a special mention, as well as the actors!! yay!
un hurra por los actores de voz de Los expedientes secretos X en español (Latinoamérica) <3
