Some things end. But war never does.
The Other Side of Dawn, John Marsden
anyone else who read tomorrow when the war began instilled with a deep seeded anxiety when attending and about large city/state-run public events or just me
That Australian movie Tomorrow When The War Began really convinced me that I’d be able to single-handedly stop a foreign invasion using only my wilderness knowledge (of which I have very little), my expertise at using various weapons (of which I actually have a lot), and some guerrilla Red Dawn/Home Alone-style shenanigans (as a notoriously low shenanigan girl, this one is a stretch).
Caitlin Stasey and Phoebe Tonkin, you have a lot to answer for making me the way I am
tomorrow when the war began is so good and deserves more recognition somebody sedate me 😫

(5/???) TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN STARTERS
“He's/She’s supposed to be here.”
“Maybe he/she got caught.”
“We have to keep going, get out of town.”
“How long do you think it's gonna be before they send another vehicle?"
“Sorry I'm late. I forgot where the bloody church was."
“Why are we stopping?”
“I have to rest.”
“Move over, I'll drive.”
“Just don't, okay?”
“I don't really care as long as there's a soft bed in there.”
“I'm an idiot.”
“The phones are down too.”
“How does it feel to get shot?”
“I used to hate that place.”
“Are you awake now, you little shit?”
“We might as well shoot each other now and get it over with."
“Okay I get it. I do. I'm sorry.”
“I don't wanna shoot you.”
“Bullshit you're sorry!”
“We've seen homes blown to pieces. Yet you're up here having a fuckin vacation.”
“Buck up, be a man, look me in the eye and pull the trigger.”
“How long have I been asleep?”
“You went a little overboard about it, but you were right.”
“You heal well.”
“I'm just confused.”
“The truth is, half the time I have no idea what I'm doing.”
“Do you just not like me?”
“I like you very much. But right now, you're driving me crazy.”
“You're talking about murder.”
“Are you in or are you out?”
“We're not even trained for this stuff.”
“I'm not just gonna sit here, and do nothing.”
“I have blood on my hands.”
“I can't tell if what I did was right or wrong.”
“How many people is it okay to kill in order to keep me alive?”
“At what point do we lose our souls, if we haven't already?”
“In the end I think we just have to trust our instincts.”
“What are we gonna do? Blow it up?”
“They've got sentries.”
“Can you drive a petrol tanker?”
“There! They are there. In the window.”
“Can I do it? I've always wanted to smash a window.”
“Turn around!”
“Do not move!”
