This was a request from @22earthquakes! Thanks so much for the suggestion. This is boyf riends, nothing but pure fluff. Decided to lay off the angst for a bit. Remember you can now send a promot or idea to my ask box anytime!
22. âCan I open my eyes yet?â
âMichael, weâve been walking for like, an hour, my feet hurt, and I canât see shit. Can I please open my eyes now?â Jeremy complained. He wondered how he got into this mess. Today was supposed to be their anniversary. Michael had told him that their celebration was a surprise, and was only a âshort walk.â
Jeremy was starting to hate surprises.
âAw, quit whining. Weâre almost there. Plus itâs been about 30 minutes.â Michael reassured him, one hand gently covering Jeremyâs eyes, while the other was wrapped around the otherâs waist to keep him from crashing facefirst into a streetlamp or something.
âWhy didnât we just drive?â
âBecause, unfortunately, my car got towed earlier and I couldnât get it back in time for our date. So⌠This was the only way.â Jeremy couldnât help but chuckle. How convenient.
Michael suddenly halted, causing Jeremy to nearly fall over. âOkay, weâre here.â He said, moving his hand away from Jeremyâs eyes. âHappy six months, Jere.â
When Jeremy opened his eyes, he almost snapped them shut again because of the nearly blinding light. But it was so beautiful that he kept them open. The sun was setting over a wide river, itâs light reflecting on the ripples of the clear water. The sky was melted into layers of yellow, orange and pink, the clouds tinted with color. Jeremy wasnât really the kind of person to stop and enjoy a sunset, but this was just⌠Beautiful.
Michael grinned as he watched Jeremyâs starstruck expression. He reached for the otherâs hand and squeezed it gently, which seemed to bring Jeremy back to reality. Jeremy managed to tear his eyes away from the sunset to look at Michael.
âMichael, this- I didnât even think- This is- You-â Jeremy stammered for a moment, searching for the right thing to say.
Michael couldnât wipe the grin off his face. They sat down on the rocks, just at the edge of the riverbank. The water flowed a few feet beneath where they sat, occasionally threatening to spash at their converse. Jeremy stared at the setting sun, but Michaelâs eyes were fixated on his boyfriend rather than the horizon. He took in his soft brown hair, and his sharp features. And Jeremyâs eyes. Michael couldnât even begin to describe how breathtakingly gorgeous Jeremyâs eyes were, sparkling with wonder at the sight before him.
âI canât believe thought of this. Itâs amazing.â Jeremy spoke up suddenly, once he found his composure. Michael smiled softly. âYeah, anything for you,â he said.
The other boy chuckled, playfully punching his boyfriend in the arm. âYouâre so fuckinâ gay.â
â-ow! Hey, so are you!â Michael shoved Jeremy in return.
âGUAAAH!â Jeremy screamed, panicking and flailing wildly for a moment as he nearly fell. Thankfully, Michael managed to grab his waist and pull him back from the edge before he completely slid off into the cold water.
There was a quiet moment that followed the short panic before both boys were laughing hysterically.
âYou almost killed me!â
âThat doesnât mean you get to push me into the freaking river!â
âYou know what, it was worth it! That scream was priceless!â
That sent them both even further into laughter. When they finally calmed down a bit, they sat in comfortable silence.
Michael glanced over at Jeremy once more, who was taking in the last rays of sunshine that were peeking over the horizon. Almost out of instinct, Michael reaches over and cupped Jeremyâs cheek, pulling him closer and pressing their lips together softly. Jeremyâs lips were soft and perfect in comparison to Michaelâs chapped lips(he always bit them when he was nervous). But right now, Jeremy didnât really care. He moved closer to Michael, wrapping his arms around his boyfriendâs middle.
Michael pulled away, his thumb tracing over Jeremyâs cheek gently. There was no other place on earth that heâd rather be right now.
âYeah, I know. I love you too.â
Honestly, this one wasnât too bad. Iâm kind of afraid if it was a bit unrealistic though. If you have any pointers, let me know! I had fun writing this one.
