Day 3 of #TwitchCon was amazing; I got to meet even more people, new and familiar. I managed to get a photo with @heyguystwitch at the Emote Museum, which was unexpected but very welcome. I also ran into @anatlus89 on the Expo Floor, and we got a photo together as well. I also found someone with a picture generating helmet (I forgot their handle, if you see this, feel free to comment here to I can tag you) and snapped a photo of them. Next was a semi awkward selfie with @capesandarrows and @lioness_tv at the Artist's Alley. I also found YasberryYogurt and their awesome cosplay, so I got a photo. I also managed to meet up with @essradi before she left con and got a photo. After that, I found @bjornsworkshop and got a photo with him; Quinn (@parkersandquinn) found me while I had some downtime and we snapped a photo. I then finally got to meet up with @arcaneseamstress and got a photo with her; she drew me a chainmail cat sketch on her business card. Finally (For this imagedump anyway since Insta only lets me post 10 pics at a time; there may be another post coming up) I met up with @chipwhitehouse and @shannonvanpelt and got a picture of them both. I’ve never been excited to travel to California
I’m usually there under duress. A cross country flight with bronchitis. Traffic across Los Angeles from warehouse to showroom to warehouse. A land-meet-depart situation. A very argumentative honeymoon for a short lived marriage.
I mean, I kinda had a bad time every time. I’d kind of decided to pretend it isn’t a simple drive away (except for occasionally indulging in a fantasy where I flee to Mexico and write screenplays from a Pacific fishing village).
WELP. Enter TwitchCon.
For work, I’m going to learn about building a cool new fundraising campaign. Also to see how such a campaign could help streamers, because I think if people want to love the internet, and feel free to use it for good. If you didn’t know, both of those are deeply rooted interests of mine.
I really think that this idea might help spark the movement I’ve been hoping for, so I’ve been thinking on this already for a while. My organization is, in fact, deeply lovable, if desperately needing to show our cool side to a wider audience.
So I’m doing research, seeking to find out why streamers fundraise for charity, and how they go about it. I believe that TwitchCon will help greatly on the last details that I can’t get without total immersion.
I can’t deny that the idea of folding together gaming and fundraising feels more than exciting: it feels natural. Like obviously this is a next step, for being authentically me AND helping to make things good for a cause. All that’s left for me to love is writing all about it.
I’ll also say that my boyfriend has been streaming music on Twitch for about three months. He has quickly become an affiliate, and even better: been writing music again after an absence. The self-expression (and positive response!) has been great for him, and it’s been great to support and enjoy that experiment so far. It doesn’t seem like it will be a career move just yet, but since he’s interested, we’re driving to San Jose on Thursday together.

So when I say, briefly, that I’m doing well. I mean that I’m not only challenged and fulfilled by my job, and enjoying gaming, music and travel, but that I’m doing it in the company of my soulmate.
Life is pretty good.
