The Elusive Beers of the Pacific Northwest
My wife and I just returned from a great family wedding in Lake Chelan, Washington. Â For those of you wondering, Lake Chelan is about 3 hours east of Seattle. Â It also looks like this:
We had a great time catching up with family, and as an added bonus, I was able to enjoy some West Coast beers I otherwise might have trouble tracking down. Â It's hard to say which beer was my favorite of the trip, but the Serengeti Wheat from Mac & Jack's Brewing is definitely near the top of the list. Â Easily one of the most enjoyable hefeweizens in recent memory. Â And you all know how much I enjoy a good hefeweizen! Â Alas, I do not have photos for each of the beers I enjoyed, as I was usually distracted by the next beer I wanted to try out.
To that end, another brewery I was psyched to try out was Deschutes Brewery, out of Bend, Oregon. Â Fortunately I was able to get my hands on both the Twilight Summer Ale, and their Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Â These were both awesome and distinct brews, and they left me wishing I could find more of their offerings on the East Coast!
Last, but certainly not least, I was able to try out Alaskan Brewing's Amber Ale. Â This was an awesome alt style beer, which I will be reviewing in full soon, so check back!
All in all it was a great trip, and if you find yourself out in the Pacific Northwest, I strongly suggest checking out the local craft beer scene, they have some great stuff! Â Cheers!
