fruit is always associated with ... fertility, and a woman’s womb, and sex, and defiling, and virginity, and all that goddamn stuff. the apple was the original sin -- it was temptation, and first partaken of by eve; apples also always symbolize desire. the cover of twilight is an apple held in hand which is directly symbolic of bella. the girl is the goddamn apple. cherries -- “pop the cherry” -- symbolize virginity and sex a lot. in art and photography and all that shit they’re put near mouths and lips. tying cherry stems into a knot. strawberries are inherently provocative for no reason. there are so many paintings of incredibly detailed fruits like melons and figs because it represents a goddamn genital. in the book Joy Luck Club there’s a part where this old relative of a small girl makes a nasty innuendo to her about “opening the melon” at dinner. he later forces her to marry him and makes the same nasty joke in bed. thats always stuck with me.
fruit is just always taken to represent women. sweet, desireable, consumable, and perishable. its just my personal thing its not Some Big Concrete Thing Everywhere Fruit Is Problematic i just hate it i hate seeing it on clothing especially cherries Its Always Symbolic
