hi my school asked me to join the ice hockey team and on a splurge i said yes and signed up. I can skate but not really well, and i have never played before. i don't want to walk out and know nothing, yet i also don't want to quit but i think i might have to. what do you think i should do or do you have any advice or just anything?
I don’t think you should quit. I wouldn’t think your school would have expected everybody on the team to be superstars. Everybody has a weakness, but everybody has a strength as well. You just need to play it out and find yours, since you haven’t played before. I suggest you become familiar to the game before the season begins, maybe play a little road hockey with your family or friends. Or you can find some ice time, but it will cost a bit of money to book your ice.
If you can’t skate well, at least practice on other skills needed to play the game. Though of course, don’t neglect the skating aspect of the game because that is important too. Your strengths are what make you stand out from the rest, and if that is your stick work or defensive play than use that to your advantage.
You can skate around your block on roller blades, its fairly similar but not exactly the same. I used to skate around my house (don’t ask lmao) when I was younger, and it helped me a bit with my skating. Also, you can stick handle either while your skating around, or if you’re just on your feet, or practice your shot against your garage.
But its what on the ice that counts right, so use all your time on the ice to your advantage to better yourself. In practice and in game.
You can also watch some videos on technique with your skating and stick handling, shot etc. to assist your play.
But the most important thing is practice. Practicing on the ice, in your driveway, whatever. It is important for you to practice a couple times a week to keep consistent, if you can.
Always try your best, and never give up. You committed to the team, and you shouldn’t let them down like that.
Good luck and if you ever need any other advice, I would be happy to lend you a hand.
Entry 26 (Theory 4)
Dear Diary I found that...making the pieces and linking them together in the shape I want is a bit ineffective when I'm making weaponry like this. The pieces I need are often times...simply not defined shapes. I can't make an arrow out of Hexagons. Instead, I found, that if I imagine a sort of....frame, and then sort of...fill it out, I can make them all together, prelinked. However, I'm still not too good on the edges and these weapons and all really light as well. I mean, that’s good for me, but even when I tried a broadsword, I could swing it with one hand. That’s...odd and silly. This means that it can be stopped easily though, it has no momentum to it at all. I'll have to think of a way to remedy this while still allowing myself to be able to wield these. Protect is strong, but in some cases metal is better.
sorry i'm a little slow, but YOU LISTEN TO MARIANAS TRENCH I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE
haha yeah i do!
