from what i know, an ADR booth is used for rerecording lines that maybe were unclear during filming, so Samuel is probably rerecording lines as Dirk again.

Thanks to everyone who replied, including @childofthefireandthestorm​ who brought up the meaning I was aiming for. But if most people think of a friendly character from a children’s show, that’s not going to evoke the right emotion.

I was aiming for “Pandora,” but the entire name is a bit of a mouthful, plus the Doctor probably has enough sense not to name someone in need of a name after that mythological character. Whereas Dora could possibly be an alien name with an uncomfortable human connotation. 

This all comes out of the fact that Big Finish wrapped up an unknown number of Dalek-indoctrinated Nyssa clones in a big shiny bow and left them in cold storage at the end of an audio. I’m not sure if the writer forgot there were some lying about, or whether he’d told the story he wanted to tell, and figured that we’d figure they’d been destroyed or never woke up.

BUT.
