In a broken plea he whispered, “Say it...please Lo.”

“It wasn’t your fault.”

The low murmur was full of sympathy. It was full of love and understanding.

All the things Virgil didn’t deserve.

“DON’T LIE TO ME!”

A picture frame crashed.

“IT’S MY FAULT!!” A series of nick-nacks were swiped off a shelf as Virgil hurled book after book from the bookshelf.

“I KNOW IT’S MY FAULT!” Tears cascaded down his splotchy cheeks as he fell to the floor.

He curled into a ball and rocked himself. He couldn’t bare to see Logan’s eyes. He didn’t want forgiveness. He didn’t want to be told everything would be okay. He needed Logan back.

“Virgil,” Logan kneeled on the floor beside his fiancé...his ex-fiancé. “Virge please. It wasn’t your fault. Please don’t blame yourself.” He reached out to comfort his love but pulled away when Virgil flinched.

“Yes it is. It’s my fault you’re dead.”

Logan stood. “No, it was an accident.” He paused for a moment, his eyes seeming to see something Virgil couldn’t. “My love...don’t keep blaming yourself. You need to move on.” He tried to catch Virgil’s eye but the young man refused.

“For me?” The two lovers locked eyes. One filled with guilt and one filled with sorrow. Both filled with love.

“I’ll try Lo. I promise I’ll try.”

Virgil’s answer seemed good enough for Logan. His lips twitched into a smile, “Good, I love you my Star.”

And he was gone.

“...I love you too.”
