It's easy to link the main character of Gregor Samsa in The Metamorphosis to Scott. They both suddenly "wake up" and find their bodies have changed drastically. And like Gregor, Scott struggles with accepting his new "state" and clings to all things human.

For Scott the main issue is that he welcomes the enhanced abilities, especially on the lacrosse team, but rescents the consequences like learning how to control it and just wants to go about his business and be "normal". Gregor has turned into an insect but still thinks like a human, wants to go to work and gets distressed when they try to accomodate his new state, yet he embraces some traits like crawling on walls. Ultimately he’s unable to fully adapt to his new body or to find a new role within his family. In the end he decides it's best to not be a burden and dies.

I'm not saying Scott's gonna die - we shouldn't take this literally. But there are similar traits between the two characters. Gregor was much less vocal about things - he didn't manage to fully adapt or accept, but he accepted his fate with little drama. Scott was, especially in season 1, all about the drama. But still, the parallels are there.

The only other character in The Metamorphsis that is named is Gregor's sister Grete. Isn't it funny how much the show has spent emphasizing how Scott and Stiles are "brothers"? Grete shares similarities with Stiles - and interestingly she also goes through a sort of metamorphosis of her own. And i can argue hard and long that Stiles does that too, both mentally and probably also with regards to his "somethingness".

Grete cares about Gregor through most of the story and it's implied that they had a great and close relationship prior to his transformation. She sticks with him, becomes his primary caretaker, much like Stiles is for at least the first couple of seasons. But Grete goes through her own changes, grows and evolves, and as time pass she begins to regard the job as a duty and she starts to recent it. She takes on more of Gregor's role as caretaker for the family and in the end she's the one who decides they need to get rid of him.

There are some clear parallels and similarities to Scott and stiles.  Even going into season 5 Scott is still very much like Gregor - not ready to fully accept his new state and what that entails. And Stiles has gone through a lot as well that forces him to grow and change and we see him begin to take on a more "alpha role", at least briefly towards the end of s4. We joke about pack mom Stiles, but he's in many ways the glue that holds a lot of the characters together. We've talked about a schism between the two - and taking into account this as a foreshadowing to their relationship, it certainly points in that direction.

And while we're on the subject of Kafka. I find it very interesting that we several times see Stiles with a Kafka poster directly behind him.

Is this another hint that Stiles is our narrator?

And finally - we see the tree on the backwall - the nemeton i presume.

and fittingly enough, the last thing we see from the classroom scene is the three sacrfices sitting in front of it (and Stiles is still directly linked to Kafka).
