The TV of Tomorrow Show 2014 December 9, 2014 at the SVA Theater
I produced another documentary for Tracy Swedlow today who puts on the TV of Tomorrow Show both here and in San Francisco. I love working with Tracy and her team as she really brings together such interesting people who are talking about how the future is unfolding on TV and on the internet. Whether people are talking about OTT (Over the Top Content) or how to manage regulatory issues like the FCC, I was interested and engaged. This video above is from last year's show which was awesome too. Now, I will backup everything (Footage shot with the Canon C100 and the Canon 60D and the GOPRO Hero4 Black ), transfer it all onto a hard drive and send to my colleague and mentor, Skip Sweeney, who does the editing.
I did some vines today as well so you can see some of the SVA Theater, TVOT's new location downtown. It was a super fun day and I loved interviewing all the folks there who were gracious enough to talk to me.

Something that I've been waiting for (in terms of my book publishing) happened today. And I was reminiscing - See, I wrote my novel over the course of sophomore Honors Chemistry. After missing a week of class to shadow and lobby Senators in Albany, I remember my teacher telling me to consider my priorities. I did. I got a B in the class...but now I'm publishing a novel. Thanks VinDo :)
I was reading the inspiration tag on my blog and now I want to write so badly, it's a physical pain in my gut.
The Future of TV, again
In between the many cord cutting and death of TV as we know it articles that appear often, it's nice to get a realistic take on the current transformation.
We highly recommend taking at look at the presentation by Terence Kawaja directly: http://www.slideshare.net/tkawaja/lumas-the-future-of-digital-tv
And the slides with some analysis: http://www.businessinsider.com/luma-partners-on-the-future-of-tv-2014-7?op=1
Some of the insights that jumped out at us.
Bundling enables prefunding of content, which makes the TV business very different than previous disruptees newspapers and music.
Live events are a great example of "convergence" combining TV with devices and social media.
Facebook is a sleeping tiger, and the most likely contender to challenge YouTube as the next large digital video property.
Enjoy!
