Thanks for the tag, @northstarfan!! It encouraged me to actually start writing Chapter 7 of TVJ after getting twisted up in my head about how this project is going so far.

Rules: Nominally it’s posting up the last line you wrote and tagging one person per word. But I’m a firm believer in bending rules and I like this as a chunk, so you’re getting the (almost) last chunk I wrote and a random and spontaneous number of tags. 😂

Thanks so much for the tag @songofamazon! This is going to be tricksy, because in addition to the rules below I am going to challenge myself not to use any of the ones I did when I played this game last.

Rules: you will be given a word. Then you share one sentence/excerpt from your wip(s) that starts with each letter of your word.

The word I have is FADE. So, taken from different WIPs/chapters of WIPs and devoid of context…

Forcing himself to stay observant, alert, quiet, and unobtrusive for hours at a time every day and night was grueling in a way that could only be called boring on a good day.

Television Jamaica should've made it more clear (to casual plebs who can't be bothered to do any fucking research) that TVJ / 1Spotmedia was sharing the rights to the FIFA World Cup with Caribbean Premier Sports Ltd's cable TV outlet RUSH Sports and, in-fact, isn't the de facto official broadcaster of the World Cup in Jamaica. On this very Tumblr blog I showed you that TVJ would only air certain games live and others on a delay. It was a major red flag that none of the delayed games aired on TVJ Sports Network instead.

In all fairness, Jamaica's broadcast industry is among the backwaters of English-language television. You especially can't blame them considering the less complicated handling of the 2022 FIFA World Cup by the smaller CVM TV and its ill-fated Csport spin-off (ad overdose, aside). You would think Jamaica's biggest over the air broadcaster, with its own dedicated sports channel and streaming platform, would be the go-to for the biggest sporting event outside the Olympics.

I guess even Jamaican television couldn't help themselves to pay-walling their shit when it matters.

Compare and contrast the United Kingdom's broadcast rights being shared between its two biggest free public service broadcasters: BBC and ITV. How about another free-to-air outlet, SBS in Australia, broadcasting and streaming every single game? No channel flipping or app switching necessary.

Even the paywalled options in North America are somewhat more pleasant. Canada's Bell Media, for all their greed, has the decency to simulcast select games from TSN's coverage on their broadcast network CTV and the newly-enhanced premium TV network / streaming service hybrid Crave. Finally, lest we forget Americans have the convenience of all games airing across the FOX broadcast network, FS1, and streaming service Fox One.

For folks new here (hi new folks!), every Sunday I post a snippet of something I wrote this week in order to create an artificial deadline that tricks my ADHD into allowing me to get work done.

I did some editing this week on the GIT one-shots, and noodled around with a scene based on a prompt from a kind anonymous asker, but the bulk of what I wrote this week was from the Modern AU(tm) and The Ventus Job (the post-game sequel to GIT). So below the cut, unedited and unbeta’d entirely, is part of TVJ.
