Ares and Hermes :3
hey IRL moot. Iâm super glad that you know that Hermes and Ares are siblings.Â
And that I didnât have to tell you and watch you speedrun the six stages of griefÂ
Regardless.Â
Careful. Slow. Steady.Â
SteadyâŠ
Ares grit his teeth, a lone drop of sweat traveling down his brow as he traced the paintbrushâs tip over the surface of the delicate seashell pinched between his massive fingers.Â
SteadyâŠ
âHello, darling!â
In an instant, the seashell was crushed to dust in his fist, paint smeared over his palm. Ares whipped his head around to glare at his brother, fluttering over his shoulder.Â
âHermes!â His roar rattled the mountain, and Hermes very wisely shot up another ten feet, out of Aresâ grasp.Â
âWhat, whaaat, darling? I didnât know you wereâŠâ Hermes gestured to the mess. ââŠdoing whatever that is? What were you doing?â
Ares fought the urge to snap the paintbrush in half- or perhaps shove it up Hermesâ ass. Or both, in that order. âI was trying to make something nice for Aphrodite,â he growled. âSo I would appreciate privacy.âÂ
âOooohâŠâ Hermes sucked in a rather patronizing breath, his eyes half-squinted and the barest bit apologetic. âSorryyyy.â
Ares grumbled and sat back down, picking up another seashell from the bucket heâd gathered. âNow, if youâd excuse me. I have work to do.â
Hermes didnât leave; merely fluttered over his head like some obnoxious pigeon, watching his hands move. âHmm. Youâre not as bad as I thought youâd be, darling.â
Ares continued grumbling under his breath.Â
âRude.â Hermes turned away, sticking his nose in the air. âAnd here I was about to offer you help with your little gift.â
That caught Aresâ attention. The war god slowly lifted his gaze to Hermes. ââŠwhat?â
Hermes grinned, flipping over so he was hovering upside-down in front of Ares. He was probably spending too much time with the winions again. âJust thinking, darling- you may make her a beautiful gift, but I have zero doubts in my mind that your presentation of it would impress her.â
Aresâ brow furrowed. âWhat is your meaning?â
âHow were you going to give it to her?â
Area squinted at him. ââŠI was simply going toâŠgive it to her.â
âWell, exactly. You need to deliver it with some pizzaz. And I would know, Iâm the definition of pizzaz!â Hermes chortled. âAt least wear something nice. Sheâs probably gotten used to seeing you in your armor by now.âÂ
Ares huffed, but looked down at his armor. He practically slept in his gear. âAnd whatâs your suggestion?âÂ
He regretted the question as Hermes gave an excited little âoh!â and zoomed off- only to return seconds later, with an odd piece of clothing in his hands.Â
âGive the seashells a rest, and try that on.â
Ares still seemed rather suspicious, but he begrudgingly set the shells down and took the clothing.Â
ââŠit seems a little smallâŠâ
Ares grit his teeth, standing as stiff as a corpse. âI donât like turtled necks. Theyâre too short in some places and too long in others.âÂ
âHmmm.â Hermes thoughtful expression vanished, replaced by a sly smirk. âI think Aphrodite would like it, though.âÂ
ââŠyou think so?â
âAbsolutely.â
