OH! I got tagged! Twice! Thanks, @mikubobba and @familyofpaladins :D I love these kinds of things. :D
Reading: So, in my new job, I'm actually reading lots of children's poems and early reader stuff. Hahaha. Probably not what you mean. When reading for pleasure, it's all TMNT fanfic. Though, I recently got my hands on a copy of The Way Things Work and it looks fascinating. I need to sit down with it for sure! (And then write a fic where little Donatello gets a battered copy.)
Last Show: Okay, I listen to podcasts way more than I watch TV shows because of migraine and flashing light sensitivity reasons. Some of my faves are:
+ "Well, There's Your Problem" - An Engineering Disaster Podcast with Slides. Rated M+ for completely unfiltered conversational swearing. It's a grumbly engineer from Philadelphia and his two BFFs: a big-hearted, justice-fueled, ride-or-die, local cynic friend, and a lovely lady from Scotland with incredible wit and dry humor who knows a billion things, none of them being engineering. The three of them discuss the horrible things that happen when the laws of physics are treated as optional: ship wrecks, and bridge collapses, and mining accidents, and buildings imploding, etc. And they manage to make it funny while they're at it.
+ "Trash Future" - rated M+ because kids will not understand half the references, but nothing too obscene. A collection of wonderful folks living in the UK who discuss the latest tech startups, future-fads, and bad-billionaire ventures that haunt our timeline. Everything from doomed cities in the desert to doomed cities on cruise ships to doomed ai-powered personal assistant jewelry that runs too hot and catches people's shirts on fire.
+ "Boonta Vista" - rated M+ because these folks have no brakes and will not shy away from any topic; for real, it's like they're daring each other to keep talking. A comedy podcast by folks in Australia, who only report on stupid news. Like, 'local man collects wild chimp pee for science,' and 'dramatic readings of one-star Subway sandwich shop reviews.' They're my go-to for 'I want to hear stuff about the world, but nothing depressing, kthnx.'
I also listen to a number of history and science and nature pods too, but these ones are my gold-star group.
Last Movie: I watch ridiculous, low-rent, filmed-with-our-iphone, Chinese fantasy / historical melodramas. I'm sure they have actual titles in the original Chinese, but all the youtube 'titles' are a quick summary of the plot.
"A Lucky Fairy descends [to earth from heaven], betrayed, married off, breaks the curse, and changes fate!"
"Betrayed [Special Ops] Agent reborn in a [Magical] Cultivation World, Building A Luxury [Magic Wizard] Sect to Crush Her Enemies!"
"🔥Cannon fodder [side character] rebirth! Fought for supremacy, forced [to give birth to] 108 snake cubs! Not my destiny!"
"Two [Modern, Best Friend] Medical Geniuses Transmigrate [into a fantasy book], Tame Princes, and reverse Fate!"
"⚡️ Reborn as a vicious princess? But I built an empire and became the empress!"
They're ridiculous. They're campy. They're shiny. They're popcorn. They're no-brain-no-pain. These shows are usually about 2 hours long, sometimes 3, sometimes 90 min. (The better ones are usually at least 2 hours.) These are what I think about when Master Splinter says he's watching his "Stories:" little one-shot soap operas with fake Emperors!
+ The people in them are pretty.
+ The whole story is collected in one place.
+ REVENGE IS GOOD AND A GAL CAN STILL BE A GOOD PERSON WHILE JUSTIFIABLY GRINDING HER ENEMIES INTO THE DIRT AND THE HOTTEST MAN ALIVE WILL LOVE HER FOR IT AND ASK HER HOW HE CAN HELP.
+ The best ones are funny *and* romantic.
Last Song: Due to migraine stuff, I don't actually listen to much music anymore. It sucks. Sorry to be a downer, but if i've made you sad, come watch some crazy c-dramas with me.
Sweet, Salty, or Savory: All? But let's be real. Sweet.
Tea or Coffee: Tea! Fruity herbal teas!
+ My TMNT fanfics. "Balance The Scales" in particular (2012! + Venus)
+ Reading other people's TMNT fanfics.
+ I'm working on certifications for my new job.
+ I bought some flower seeds for my patio garden.
+ I want to properly arrange my TMNT collection in the guest room.
