Admittedly, Apollo felt...a bit awkward.  There was always something between the two of them.  Something he couldn’t quite pinpoint and something that went unacknowledged, but it was there.  Staying with Klavier meant that something could become...more visible, and he wasn’t sure how to feel about that. 

But he couldn’t just say no when all other options were unavailable or expensive. 

Staying with Klavier could be...fun? 

He put his things down in the overly-lavish living room, looking around at the decor.  Like Klavier’s office, his living room had music instruments in cases that spanned the walls.  There were also a few records hanging, and the furniture was expensive - yet tasteful, in its own way.  Still a bit too high-end for Apollo’s liking, but it could have been far worse.  He had asked his question while looking around.

“Not at all, Herr Forehead.  Why pay for a hotel when I could offer you a much more comfortable and less costly option?”

“I don’t want to impose, especially if you have-”

“Shush, Forehead.  I said I don’t mind, and I mean it,” Klavier interrupted, smiling.  He seemed happy, and Apollo didn’t feel his bracelet reacting, so he must have been telling the truth. 

“Well...thanks.  I really appreciate it.”

“Have you eaten?  I know it’s late but I haven’t had any dinner,” Klavier said, pulling out his phone.  

“I haven’t...I tried eating something on the plane, but...airline food.” 

Klavier wouldn’t really know, since he usually flew first class and had access to better of...well, everything.  

“How does sushi sound, then?  I’ve been craving, and I could have it delivered rather than you having to go out after so much traveling.” 

Apollo nodded, and as if on cue, his stomach rumbled.

Apollo had almost forgotten how easy it actually was to talk with Klavier when the man wasn’t putting on an act for others.  Why did he feel the need to do that, when he was perfectly pleasant when he was just acting like himself?  

Klavier had finished his sushi, but Apollo still had a piece left.  A piece that had been sitting there untouched for some time.  They had been talking so much about their cases and Apollo’s work in Khura’in and everything that he had basically forgotten about it.

That was, until Klavier reached over and snatched it with his chopsticks. 

“Hey!”  Apollo’s exclamation stopped Klavier from putting the sushi into his mouth.  Klavier looked confused. 

“You wanted this, Forehead?  It’s been just sitting there for twenty minutes, you know.” 

“Maybe I was saving it!  You easily could have just asked,” Apollo said while pouting a bit.  “Give it back.” 

Klavier looked at Apollo, then at the sushi, then back at Apollo.  He leaned forward a bit and with a sly grin on his face, just said: 

“Come over here and make me.” 

A challenge.  Apollo thought for a moment, wondering what he could do to get his prized sushi back.  

One thing crossed his mind.  And once it did, the desire to do that overwhelmed everything else. 

He leaned in as well, grabbed Klavier’s shirt and pulled him in to kiss him roughly. 

By how much his heart was racing, he vaguely wondered exactly how long he had been wanting to do this for.  

Klavier’s eyes had widened and he let out a very surprised and muffled noise when their lips had made contact.  It was a deep open-mouthed kiss that he hadn’t expected, but it didn’t take him very long to reciprocate.  He put down the chopsticks holding the sushi and brought his hand to the back of Apollo’s head, almost as if to pull him in even closer.  His eyes finally closed, and Apollo knew then was the time to strike. 

While still in the kiss, Apollo grabbed the sushi with his fingers.  When he pulled away, he showed off his prize to Klavier before popping it in his mouth. 

And Klavier sat there, unable to think or move or even react for a moment. 

“I was saving it,” Apollo remarked, smirking.  

Klavier chuckled, before standing and holding his hand out to Apollo to help him up.  

“I concede defeat, Herr Forehead.  Is there anything else I can get for you, since you won that little battle so handedly? 

Apollo didn’t let go of Klavier’s hand after he stood, instead closing the gap between them again.
