We soon decide to move on to Tahua, a minuscule town on the foot of the volcano and featuring an entry into the Salar of Uyuni. Time for some macrophotography while waiting for a ride (not many cars on the gravel roads…) - desert has some pretty details to show, and the light is eternally perfect… ;)

hmm Bolivia seems to be a place with no to notmuch Internet reception…I am not able to upload any files and so will keep to simple words. After a transfer from Iquique to Oruro, we enjoyed the city for 2 days…walking the most amazing markets I’ve seen so far - those places are crowded but the GRINGO stays unbothered - even while walking with my camera. Good times shopping and taking pictures. I love the calm paced, yet busy atmosphere, such as the rather retreated people of Bolivia. This is a very different place to Chile or Argentina.
We then take a bustransfer (generally cheap!) to Salinas de Garci-Mendoza and the small towns around Volcano Tunupa. A little unexpected we end up in a seemingly endless festival that consists of looping music and dancing through town. Sleep goes missing and appart from meeting several friendly people there isn’t much to do in Salinas.
We move on to Tahua, a minuscule town on the foot of the volcano and featuring an entry into the Salar of Uyuni. I can’t resist a hike up the volcano: 7h, 6km without the slightest path through the pampa/desert on a steep mountain, I reach 4800m….a personal record and a hell of a hike. Rewards: the breathtaking views on both Salar and Altiplano!
the days are counted and we take a bus back to Oruro, tomorrow we will make the next step to Cochabamba. On the road…..

Był sierpień 2008 roku. Znaliśmy się co prawda już od 3 miesięcy, ale byliśmy dopiero po kilku 'oficjalnych' randkach, gdy Arek z rozbrajającą szczerością oznajmił, że leci do Boliwii wejść na 5 wulkanów w Andach. Licancabur, Uturunku, Tunupa...od samych nazw kręciło mi się w głowie. Poleciał, a że było to jeszcze w erze przedinstagramowo-fejsbukowej to tylko z wysyłanych naprędce smsów, i to też tylko wtedy gdy akurat wjeżdżał w zasięg sieci komórkowej, dowiadywałam się, że żyje i że ma się dobrze. Nie było go miesiąc. Wrócił zakochany w Boliwii, wulkanach, wspinaczce i wysokich górach. A ja w nim...O tej pierwszej miłości opowie jutro w naszej cotygodniowej audycji w @gdyniaradio .
