Adjective: tasting bad due to the amount of salt added into it, strong, powerful, fearsome, potent
Tuima is an interesting adjective, not as much for the other meanings, like strong, but the meaning connected to taste. You see what I have given you is the only definition that will be true, no matter where you go in Finland. Not too salty. Not saltless. Having some unclear clear, sharp bad taste because of the level of piquancy. The word isn't actually vague at all, it is either too salty or lacking salt but the meaning depends on which side of Finland you live. In the eastern part of the country, your tuima soup would basically taste like water. On the other hand, in the western areas, ugh, what, did you drop the whole bag in? And then there are people who think it means pungent. Tuima always means a "strong" taste, but I suppose strong can come from opposite directions. Middle ground is important.
