Some birds from the Birbfest challenge this month
[ID: various photos of birds drawn with varying techniques of traditional mediums. A bronze-wing pigeon drawn in watercolors, a couple of razorbills made with markers and crayons, female and male specimens of gloden-headed manakin, the male dancing for the female, done with watercolor and crayons; a white-eared pheasant made with coloring pencils, three emerald-toucanets, the biggest one painted with acrylics and the other two with crayons; a Steller's sea eagle with a fish in its talons, done with watercolors; a tufted jay made with coloring pencils and two ornate-fruit doves, an exemplar of the west populations (magenta-colored head) and the east populations (greenish yellow head) in each image, made with markers. End ID]
After working on those beetles, i realized i have lots of materials that are going to go bad if i don't use them, and also that my sketchbooks have been unfinished for years now. So here's to completing at least most of my sketchbooks this year, and maybe wear out some mediums.
For a request (if I haven't already requested her in which case soz) could I please have Jay (Yellowfang's Secret/Tallstar's Revenge)? Thanks!
Here ya go! Jay was one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite super editions, Yellowfang's Secret. I had a pretty clear vision for her in my head. Here's a sketch going over some design notes.
I imagine she gets into a lot of territory disputes and fights over food. She probably also fought a lot of bigger animals like dogs or foxes, hence the missing leg.
think about it thursday
