Gallia

Bu hafta sonu hem Cumartesi hem de Pazar günü Gallia’daydım. Cumartesi ben Pazar ise SAE Istanbul’da DJ’lik üzerine çalıştığımız arkadaşlarım ilk performanslarını sergiledi. Gallia, FG’nin son zamanlarda öne çıkan DJ’lerinden Gökberk’in müzik direktörlüğüne geçmesiyle kabuk değiştirmiş ve insanların kulübe geçmeden önce hoş vakit geçirip iyi müzik dinleyebilecekleri bir preclub haline gelmiş. Bence uzun zamandır bu tarz mekanların eksikliğini fazlasıyla hissediyorduk.

Erken saatlerde eski alışkanlığım olan vokalli ve jazzy houselarla başladığım geceye mekanın kalabalığı ve neredeyse herkesi tanıyor olmamın verdiği rahatlıkla biraz daha deep ve tech house parçalarla devam ettim. Gecenin en olumlu tepkisini alan parça geçen sene indigo’da da sıklıkla çaldığım Tuccillo - Timeless Mood oldu. Gallia’nın hemen ardından indigo’ya geçtik. Bu sene indigo her hafta sonu dolu geçiyor ve bu da beni haliyle çok mutlu ediyor. indigo’da Adriatique’in seti geçtiğimiz senelerden farklıydı. İçeri girdiğimde daha düşük bir müzik çalıyordu ve insanlar dans ediyordu. Yerli DJ’ler warm up yaparken bile dinleyiciler düşük tempolu müziğin değişmesi için sabırsızlanırken gece saat 3’te bu kadar alışılmışın dışında tempoda bir müzikle insanların dans ettiğini görmek hem hoşuma gitti hem de yerli bir DJ bu müziği çalsa ne olurdu diye düşünmeden edemedim.

This weekend both on Saturday and Sunday i was at Gallia. On Saturday it was me who was playing and on Sunday my students at SAE had their first performance. Lately with FG’s one of the most popular DJ, Gökberk’s taking over the music directory of Gallia, place was reborn as a hit pre-club. I think we have been deeply needing this type of venue for a while.

My old habit of playing vocal and jazzy in the early hours turned into deep and tech house after the place getting crowded especially with people i already know. Tuccillo-Timeless Mood, a song i used to play a lot at Indigo was the hit of the night. After Gallia we went to Indigo. This year there hasn’t been a weekend of Indigo that is not packed which makes me very happy. This time i happened to find a different Adriatique set from the previous ones at Indigo. It was somewhat of a softer version but regardless people were dancing still. Which made me wonder what would have happened if it was a local DJ rather than the Adriatique, if this crowd, who on a regular night would be getting annoyed with the warm-up’s and impatiently waiting for the more hard-core music still would be dancing satisfied like this. Nevertheless it is couraging to see people enjoying even the slower paced music.
