People often get confused when I say I ship Thomas with big engines or think he’d be into them, but it actually ties into his insecurities especially his alliance with Gordon. I’m not saying I ship Thomas and Gordon, but their relationship helped Thomas see big engines as equals, not threats.

Whenever Thomas meets another tank engine he usually dislikes them at first. I think it’s because he fears being replaced losing his Branchline or being seen as less useful due to his past mistakes. But with big engines like Gordon, there’s no threat; in fact, their bond gave each other a new perspective in their relationships.

So, I imagine Thomas might develop a soft spot or even a crush on big engines. In the Railway Series, I believe he had a bit of fondness for Green Arrow, which kind of supports this idea.
