â the world is a little happier with you in it. â - alecto (iâm trash and iâm not sorry)
Send me a prompt if you want a drabble yaâll
Itwas no secret from him that Alecto was not the same as she had been before heâdgone to prison. Sheâs changed, hardened, lost pieces of herself along the wayand now he was back, also changed, also hardened, his pieces more jagged andthey didnât feel as though they were all in the right place. It was no wonderthat things between them had changed. There was relief at first, relief to beback within reach of one another, relief at not being alone anymore, relief becausetheyâd waited so long. But relief could only get you so far and then there wasother things to deal with.
Therewas the anger- intentional or not it was there. Misdirected it could be foundthrown towards either of the two lovers. Theyâd been brought together by theirblood lust and now they were ripping at the seams. Both more volatile and lesswilling or less able to conceal it.
âi said i love you.â (Nicolet <3333)
June 1981
âIâm just saying, you donât have to accept every single mission they propose to you Nick. Youâre high up enough that you can delegate.â Violet said with a frustrated huff, throwing the clothes she had worn that day in the hamper. âTwo weeks? Two bloody weeks?â She had to remind herself to keep quiet, not wanting to wake either of the kids, or Matt specifically; Holly could sleep through a stampede of elephants going past her room. Matt would wake up if a feather touched the end of his bed
âItâs an important mission Vi, itâs best that I go, Iâm the more senior Auror on the case.â Nick sighed, rubbing at his temple as he leant against the end of the bed. He knew that the conversation would take this turn, as much as heâd hoped she would just say okay and good luck, that wasnât the woman heâd married.
âNick, I understand that, but please, can you just listen to me for a second-â
âVi I always listen to-â
âNo shut up, Youâre not the twenty one year old Auror anymore, who can go on missions without so much of a second thought. Youâre a father, youâve got so much more at stake. I just feel like youâre not taking that into consideration anymoreâ She threw up one hand weakly with a sigh and Nick looked down at the floor to avoid the sharpness in her gaze for a moment to gather his words.
He looked back up at her and took a deep breath âI know Iâm a father, thatâs just more of a reason why I do the work that I do, so I can make sure that the world my kids are going to grow up is safer than it is right now. Iâm trying to help not just our kids, but also everyoneâs, itâs my job Vi. And I know itâs hard for you when Iâm go on missions, but theyâre important, thatâs why I do them. I wouldnât put myself in danger for no reasonâ Vi stiffened at that, she hated being reminded that he put himself in danger on a regular basis, at times she didnât care why he did, she just wanted him home on the couch with her.
Nick stepped forward and rested his hand on the side of Violetâs head, his thumb brushing against her cheek in an attempt to calm her âThis is a serious mission, and the best bet for it going well, and being successful, is if I go, as the more experienced officer. Iâll be with other Aurors, Iâm not alone, but itâs a huge jobâ
âThat youâll be on for two weeks!â She snapped, pushing his hand away and walked to her side of the bed, pulling back the covers, âAnd by the way you explained it, it could turn into more than that. So how long should I tell our kids that theyâre not going to see their Dad for? Two weeks? Three? A month?â She asked him, feeling guilty as soon as the words left her mouth, watching Nickâs face change to one of guilt as well. She knew he struggled with the balance of home and work, especially in such trying times. He had such a strong moral compass that it made him want to do everything in his power to make the world a better place, which made decisions like this, and missions like this, so much harder. Nick didnât say anything, so she got into bed.
It was a long moment of silence before Nick spoke again âI have to go Viâ, only then moving from his place at the end of the bed to his side, getting in and pulling up the covers. âI have a duty to do as much as I can to stop this evil thatâs happening all around usâ he said, and waved his wand to turn off the light. Hopefully she would be more understanding in the morning.
He was about to fall asleep when he felt arms wrap around his middle, and Viâs face pressed into his back, holding onto him tightly she mumbled something. He turned around and brushed her hair out of her face âWhat was that?â Vi looked up at him, barely able to see his face from the moonlight shining through their window.
âI said I love you.â She sighed, and buried her face in his chest âAnd that Iâm sorry. I shouldnât say things like that. I know itâs hard for youâ
âItâs okay, Love.â Nick nodded, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close. âItâs hard for you too. I get it. I love you too.â He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. âI love you tooâ
The pair of them didnât say anything else after that, just fell asleep, not thinking that in the morning the kiss goodbye would be for much longer than usual. But Nick would come back, Violet knew he would. He always did.
âquit it or iâll bite.â
Emmeline had kept an eye on Sirius since the night at the Quidditch pitch. The two had not so sneakily been catching up every now and then after curfew, or even in-between classes on the rare occasion. Tonight though, Gryffindor had won the Quidditch match, and Em had been invited to the celebrations with the rest of the Ravenclaw team. Whenever anyone won against Slytherin, it was cause for school-wide celebration.
It hadnât been long before Em and Sirius had found each other, and were sitting on one of the couches, Emâs legs thrown lazily over Siriusâs lap and under the blanket that had been on the back of the couch. They werenât alone though. A few other members of the Ravenclaw team and another Gryffindor were all in a circle, discussing- well Em wasnât really sure what, she wasnât paying attention. She was far too concentrated on her own little game. Which involved her hand moving up Siriusâs thigh, and resting on a place sheâd become rather familiar with over their past few encounters. Covered by the blanket, and the shape of her legs on his lap, nobody had noticed. Em was having a lot of fun being exactly what he had suggested she was that night on the Quidditch pitch. A tease.
