rek saying his favourite team might become tricky trio over team apocalypse with how much they’ve been doing. it’s only the third day of season 8 somebody hold me
another thing i’m really liking about tricky trio is that they, at least as far as we’ve seen, aren’t really letting things get them down. because a boatload of shit ended up happening to them today, and a lot of it did suck for them!
like, not only did they get jumped with the mace, causing rek to die— twice, actually— but they also lost the base they’d been spending the past day or so working on, grinding resources, villagers, and setting up traps, losing pretty much all the items in it as well. they went from being on the up via snowballing the day prior to being both broke and baseless within just a few minutes, which i don’t think is fun for anybody, really.
with the three of them, though, they just kind of let it roll off of them? it’s not like i was expecting them to angst about it, not a team consisting of rek, luigi, and yungy. but like. they’re not even five minutes out from meeting up, and they’re already with a new plan and in a better mood, exclaiming to each other that this isn’t that bad, actually.
they go start to regear, deciding on mining gold, but then they turn it into fun competition and easy content for their trophy “tricky chest”. they’re running around the badlands, spleefing each other and giggling at the antics being relayed live through their vc and yelling playfully at each other to “get a different cave, dude!” as they scramble to get the most gold between the three of them in their thirty-minute timeframe. and they’re just having fun!
even when epax and flow show up and the trio have to pause the competition, they pay the interruptions their proper share of attention, but then they meet right back up and have just as much fun revealing the winner as they did doing the actual competition. and it’s just fun! they’re just having fun, despite everything that the day had brought.
and of course, rek luigi and yungy end today off together, too, with a today’s events recap that’s starting to become a staple and them logging off at the same time with a bright plan for tomorrow. i hate these three so badly. i can’t wait to see more of them.
okay sorry if this is weird but from what i can tell you’re one of The rek guys and you especially get a shit ton of asks about him so i figured if i’d ask anyone... i usually watch yungy’s streams. and i decided to watch some of rek’s vods since they’re teamed and i like watching all povs of ls teams. is this normal for rek? is he usually like this?? i’ve only seen his day 3 so far but he actually seems really weird about his team /pos. and when i watched through rek’s day 3 vod and heard his reaction to yungy and luigi in a vc with spongs, it felt really almost jealous or annoyed to me?? but i thought that i was probably crazy or that i misinterpreted it all because i don’t really know rek and people always say he’s super nice and whatnot and from the videos i watched of him he seemed chill. and then i looked up his tag, and i saw a ton of your posts, like the ones about his team loyalty and possessiveness and him being kind of crazy, and then other rek fans’ posts about him being weird this season. so was i not imagining that ?? is this normal??? 😭
i literally just woke up to this ask notification and i can’t stop laughing anon i’m so sorry 😭 you were not imagining it or misinterpreting it don’t worry. he was normal! he was normal.
the second ask is fun. rek is an interesting guy, and he does a lot of interesting things, but no, his reaction— at least to this level— is genuinely not something i’ve ever seen before, and i’ve watched every rekrap2 lifesteal stream at least once.
like it’s crazy. it’s not that rek isn’t possessive of his teammates, because he is! rek’s loyalty and rek’s possessiveness over what he considers to be “his” are both very standard, to be honest, and he displays all of this throughout his seasons. but to this extent? this is his normal dialed up to 1000.
the closest instance to this that i can think of off the top of my head would be in season 7 during the end arc. an easy example is his 12/21 stream. but even though he made it a point to say that “now [sb]’s actual team is here” to zam when he joined, he really didn’t have too much to say about sb hanging out with the literal opposing team: when zam tries to say that rek should be careful of sb because “sb gets along with the enemy”, rek just says that “he’s even more trustworthy” and is unbothered. and while he does have some very interesting tones in both his voice and laugh when zam talks about how sb and her had been talking for so long, it’s not as bad as The Clip.
his day 3 vod is also just. Something. he was so very normal about his team that entire day. you watched the vod. you heard how he sounded when he was building their respawn vault— oh, sorry, my bad, their tomb, as rek decided it was!! him saying “the goal [in building this] is to impress luigi and yungy” is not something he usually says, ever. he likes to do things for his team, yes, and he likes to make them proud, but saying it? this is the sort of thing i expect to hear from sb737, sure, but this is rek. like what? we’re genuinely just getting a new specimen of rekrap2 to analyze out of this team right now. it’s so wonderful. personally i’m hoping he gets so much worse! this will end up beautifully.

Okay. [clicks to the "create group" page, pauses on it for a few seconds, then exits out] I don't want to like interrupt, is the thing, but I kinda need to interrupt. I'mma make a new group. [invites Yungy, then Luigi] Boom. (flat) We'll see if they- we'll see if they join. They'll probably say goodbye to. Spongs, and (lilting) hopefully join? REK: [whispers Luigi "are u busy?"] YUNGY: He might actually be afk, I'm not gonna lie. REK: (flat) Really? YUNGY: (mutttered) Yeee. [small pause] REK: Afk at what? Just like eating or something?
i’m already excited for the end fight. not for the actual fight part, i can’t think of a recent rek fight where the plan even was “fight”, but for the trials that tricky trio mentioned doing in the end. most elytras in half an hour… most overall loot from the same rocket count… it’s such a good way to make the grind just more fun and entertaining for both them and their viewers really
