time for some author musings about an idea that's in the workshop, which I currently have titled as 'The Syndicate'
the Syndicate is a supernatural place inhabited by four different 'Omens': the Senna, the Kyuna, the Vevena, and the Bohina
the Senna are 'of natural' and have powers associated with natural elements and weather, natural non-living things, and plant life; they are the most respected; their ruling god is Lelatai, the Wise One
the Kyuna are 'of energy' and have powers associated with energy, life, and death; they are the most feared; their ruling god is Hilafei, the Centipede
the Vevena are 'of artificial' and have powers associated with all artificial things and man-made elements; they are the most passive; their ruling god is Rekatai, the False One
the Bohina, descendants of the Senna, are 'of beast' and have powers associated with animals and non-plant living things; they are the most aggressive; their ruling god is Jura, the Mother
the four Omens and their gods worked together to keep Earth in motion, such as shifting the tectonic plates, allowing births and deaths, ensuring that human-made things work, and keeping the ecosystem in check
however, selfish Hilafei began to despise humans and ordered the Kyuna to sap the energy of every human, to which the rest of the Syndicate responded with a declaration of war
but killing Hilafei would leave the Kyuna weak, and killing all of the Kyuna would disrupt the Ways of the World, so the Syndicate must find another way to end Hilafei's brutal ambition
Yozul [yoh-zuhl] was originally a human cis male named Valentine, but after being abducted by Hilafei when searching for his missing lover, he was forcibly transformed into a Kyuna. Zana Rei-ah gave him the name Yozul, meaning 'brave', to hide his former identity as a human.
Zana Rei-ah [zah-nah ray-ah] is a Senna trans male whose name can be translated into 'of peaceful gardens'. he assigns himself the task of being Yozul's bodyguard, after feeling responsible for letting him be abducted by Hilafei in the first place.
Niya [nee-yah] is a Bohina non-binary intersex priest whose name literally means 'pure'. they developed PTSD after being a war medic for ten years, and was begged by their community to return to the Bohina church to heal themself as a priest of Jura.
Ake-ah [ah-keh-ah] is a Vevena cis female whose name literally means 'savior'. she is a maker of high-rate firearms and weapons, and acts as the primary supplier for the Syndicate against the Kyuna.
Hilafei [hee-lah-fay] is the god of the Kyuna, and the only Syndicate god to have manifested in a physical form on the surface. he has taken a strong interest in Yozul and seems to know everything about Zana Rei-ah. his name means 'hundred feet'.
