Because you're an idiot, dear child. But don't worry, those who make the content you download are even bigger idiots.
And how could I solve this problem, Nyx?
It's very simple: go into the Mods folder and find the folder where you collect those hairs that you put on your ugly sims. Use Sims4Studio to delete the unnecessary swatch tags - I recently came across some hairs that were 80-120 megabytes and contained 40-80 swatches. You probably only use 4 of them. Delete the excess! Good luck!

How to Create a CAS Hider and/or Disable for Random!
Last updated: September 4th, 2020
Hereâs my quick and easy tutorial on how to make CAS hiders for the Sims 4!
You will need
Sims 4 Studio
TS4 CAS Tools
Before we start
Hide in CASÂ means hiding the item from view in Create-a-Sim. You will not be able to see it or select it in the catalog.
Disable for Random means preventing the item from appearing on randomly-generated sims, A.K.A. townies.
It is entirely possible to hide something in CAS, while still allowing it to appear on random sims - or the opposite, disabling something from appearing on random sims while still being available in your CAS catalog. With this tutorial, you will be able to do either or both of these things!
Letâs get started!
Open Sims 4 Studio and enter your desired name into the âCreator Nameâ section on the bottom right.
Under the blue âCASâ button, check âOverride.â Then hit âCASâ again.
Navigate to the item that you want - you can use the options in the top bar to narrow down the results. (Such as species, gender, age, game pack, etc.)
When you see the image of the item that you want, hold shift and then left click. This will select all the swatches. If you hover your cursor over the thumbnail, youâll see the name of the item. Thatâs what I name my .package files for clarityâs sake.
Remember to hold shift when clicking to select all the swatches!
Hit ânextâ on the bottom right and a window will come up asking where to save your .package file and what to name it. Do so and hit âsave.â
Now open TS4 CAS Tools and go to the âClone Package Editorâ tab.
At the top, you will see the box for âSelect Packageâ - click âSelectâ and navigate to your override you just made.
Now your .package file will be opened in TS4 CAS Tools.
The first thing youâll want to do is look in the box on the upper far right side.
If you want to prevent sims from wearing this item when randomly generating sims in CAS, you need to uncheck âAllow for CAS Random.â
If you want to prevent random sims from wearing this item in-game and around your town, you need to uncheck âAllow for Live Random.â
If you want to hide this item from Create-a-Sim, uncheck the box for âShow in CAS UI.â
In the âProperty Flagsâ box, you may see the flags âOccultAllowedForRandomâ If youâre creating an override that disables for random, you can delete these flags if youâd like. I find it doesnât make too much of a difference as âAllow for CAS Randomâ and âAllow for Live Randomâ seem to override it.
Now click âCommit Changesâ, then âSave Packageâ and you are done! Itâs necessary to hit Commit before Save or else your changes wonât be saved to the package file.
And there you are! Let me know how it goes for you or if anything in this tutorial was unclear. Thank you! âĽ
Bonus note:
If youâre curious about what the âDisable for ...â options at the top mean, that prevents it from showing up in CAS for that species only. So say youâd like an item to only show for aliens, youâd check âDisable for Humanâ and âDisable for Vampireâ while leaving the alien option unchecked. You will need to leave âShow in CAS UIâ checked for this to work, as this option will override all others.
Example: An item that only shows up in alien CAS, versus an item that does not show up in CAS at all.
If you want to allow this item to appear on randomly generated sims of that species, you will need to add an âOccultAllowedForRandomâ flag in the âProperty Flagsâ box.
So for the example above, youâd add âOccultAllowedForRandom - Alien.â Remember that you will also need âAllow for CAS Randomâ and / or âAllow for Live Randomâ to be checked in the upper right box.

One of the questions I see most often with newer builders is how to make a walk-out basement, or what to do about the terrain dip around foundation.
Rather than keep trying to explain this method in words, which is probably not very effective, I finally whipped up this little picture tutorial! Sometime I should probably update with examples of this used on real houses.
But for now, hope this will help.
1. Make the shape of your lower (basement) level with walls and sink it into the terrain. You can do it so itâs fully underground, or only part-way if you want windows on your exterior.
2. Make a wall the same height as your house walls for reference, and build a 1x1 half gable roof with the eaves shortened, raised to the same height as the reference wall.
3. Put that sucker in the terrain dip along your house with the wall facing out. Roofs can go on uneven terrain, huzzah!
4. Drag the roof part so that it covers all of the dipped terrain... 1 tile wider than your house.
5. Copy it and do it for all of the edges of your house that will be underground in any way. (Note: if one side will have a walk-out, then you can leave the house wall alone and dig the terrain out in front of it... then just use 1x1 half gables to cover the open edges.)
6. Build your upper level 1 tile wider around so that it lines up with the roof walls.
7. Ta-da! Looks like walls flat against the terrain.
8. You can add windows in your roof walls for looks, unfortunately your lower level wonât actually have the windows for light inside.
Because I donât have the software/care to figure out how to do a video rn.
These are the steps I used to make this:
This uses no CC unless you want the clerestory windows by Peacemaker, which I highly recommend!
Tutorial below the cut because long
1. Build two rooms on top of each other. These will be your lower and upper levels.
2. Lower them into the terrain a bit.
3. On the flat terrain, outline your middle level. You have to leave one tile of space between the two sections because of the terrain dip.
4. Put spandrels across the walls facing the center of both levels. This is so you can add your stairs.
5. Add stairs from middle level to bottom level. You may need to raise your lowered room up a click or two until itâs just right the stairs will fit.
6. Add your stairs from the middle to the top level.
7. You can build a floor on your middle level so itâs actually a room.
8. Slap some roofs on those bad boys. You wonât be able to extend the roof over the middle level to be against the bigger section, so youâll have to extend just the eave (holding shift). I hadnât done that yet in this screenshot.
9. Now we need to hide where the terrain dips down at the walls. Make your top level one tile bigger than your lower level all the way around. (Note: if you want your house to have a walkout basement, you donât need to bother with the back side. I didnât on this example.)
10. Make one wall as a guide to create a 1 tile half gable roof that is the same height as a wall.
11. Place the roof with the âwallâ facing out along the length of the house.
12. Do it for the front too. (And the back, if youâll be doing that.)
13. Then place a 1 tile roof on the open edges to make them neat and square.
14. Place walls back where the spandrels were, and across the open side of the middle level.
15. Ok, I guess I didnât take screenshots of this process because here itâs done. Select any flat, plain object to use to make âwallsâ in all of the places you canât place walls but would want some--the outside walls and by the stairs.** Use multiple ones and move them with 0 and 9 (or for me itâs ctrl + 9) to stack them up to the ceiling and roofline. I used the base game 1 tile lockers because theyâre tall so I need less of them. That rectangle block from Get Famous might be good too. I also considered using a bookcase by the stairs so it will look like there are shelves in the stairwell. Ooh.
**If youâre using Peacemakerâs vaulted ranch windows, then instead of the lockers at the outside wall, you can put just a full length window with a clerestory on top. To do that I had to back off a few walls so I could put the window in place without it snapping to other walls. Then moved things back.
16. Ta-da! So itâs not perfect of course, but I mean, they donât let us do different levels so we do what we can, right?
This is just a quick and easy tutorial on how to change whether or not a custom preset will appear on random sims!
Open the .package file in Sims4Studio
Under the âTypeâ section on the left side, select âCAS Preset.â If itâs a pack of presets, there will be multiple. You will need to adjust each individually.
On the right side, look through the options until you see âChanceForRandomâ.
This is the value we need to change!
If you set it to 0, it will not appear on random sims. If you set it to 1, it will appear.
Once you have edited the ChanceForRandom value for the CAS parts you want to change, you can now save and close the package. Voila!
