She’s on the bleachers with Penelope, both of them cheering as he moves down the court like he owns it.
River’s seen him play a hundred times. So why does this feel…different?
“Did you see that?!” Penelope grabs her arm as Noah scores.
River nods, a little distracted. “Yeah… I saw.” 🤤
A few rows down, Maria is on her feet, yelling just as loud. Penelope glances over, just for a second - but it lingers. River notices, smirking to herself.
Then the buzzer sounds.

And for a split second, his eyes find hers.
He's got that same smile he's always had since they were kids.
But…Yeah. Something’s definitely changed. Whether she wants to admit it or not.
