Truth Pursuit (20 points of application)
Occasionally we have a Southern California serving ones fellowship on friday mornings in Anaheim. A few weeks ago (Dec 12), we received some fellowship concerning religion, meetings in ascension, and the application of the divine truth.Â
I took down many notes but the deep burden came in the form of this question: "How much of the divine truth is applied?" In his book "The World Situation and the Direction of the Lord's move," two things were mentioned that were lacking when it comes to our handling the truth:
1. propagation and 2. application.
For our practice, here are 20 points concerning the application of the divine truth.Â
1. The full knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:4)
We are not talking about the full knowledge of doctrine. There is a distinction between truth and doctrines. Full knowledge is not just head knowledge. It is not just mental grasp of a truth but must involve the application, the experience of the full knowledge.Â
There is a distinction between inner knowledge or outward knowledge.
It has to start here. You should not begin the pursuit of the truth because you have to.
Much of the time we have no taste or appetite for the truth. No appreciation. We all need to be lovers of the truth. If you love the truth, you’ll want it. You'll care for it and therefore you will pursue it.
don’t treat the truth as credits you need to graduate
3. Knowing the grace of God in truth.Â
Truth is not just some dry dead studies of some theology. You have to know the grace of God. The more you know the truth in this way, the more grace you have and the more God you will enjoy.
4. Inhabited by the truth. Indwelt by the truth. (Col 3:16)
Through the word of Christ, the truth lives in you like a person. It makes home in you. It's not just that I know the truth but this truth lives inside.Â
5. subjective vs objective knowledge
6. pursuing the truth to know God
We pursue the truth not for it’s own sake but to know God. You might know this in a religious way or natural way.Â
The truth is the divine reality in this universe. To know God is to know this truth.Â
7. studying the truth in the way of life.
Not just to know the truth in a doctrinal matter. This is what happened to the brethren and it became a divisive thing.
Life and truth should not separated. This is a special line in church history that we have inherited
8. seeking truth over doctrine
Doctrine is necessary and the truth is contained in the doctrine.Â
Seek the truth over the doctrine. Don’t get hang up in doctrine and become debaters of doctrine.Â
9. practicing the truth which corresponds with the light.
light is the source of truth.Â
truth is for practice. that has to correspond with the light.Â
When we study the truth, we must aim for light and not just knowledge. We receive enlightenment (that aha moment). eureka! Do you have those moments?
When bro Lee saw that patience is Christ, his life was revolutionized. That light changes him and affects his ministry.
Some people gone crazy over this: I am a man in Christ. This should be the way truth affects us.
