“I guess I wouldn’t mind more from him, but in actual application, I wouldn’t want him to change. He says more than he realizes with his body, and I’ve learned to read him fairly well I’d think. 

“Vincent, matured?” Adrik chuckled a low vibration through his chest. “No, he is as childish as ever,” his smile is subtle, but genuine. “Perhaps Vincent is a little... more reighned in? But that is not saying much, and that is not a bad thing. 

I am glad my words did not change him, for those were words of a skeptical man, one afraid of an attachment with someone so young. Why should he waste his time on one such as me? There are many who would find him attractive and desirable, who would entertain his wildest fancy, yet he waited for me during my travels. 

“Of course not. Having gone through it myself, I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience that, and by rights, I should have killed Xavier a long time ago purely based on what he is and given my profession. 

Now I’m engaged to him, and have had plenty of time to accept that I love him and it makes him an exception for me as a hunter. I’ve suggested Xavier pick targets deserving of death, not innocents like I had essentially been, but I’m not about to police what he does. 

I’m also not going to waste time examining and beating myself up over the hypocracy of it. I guess I’m breaking some sort of unspoken code as a hunter, but at least I’ve accepted that. I wouldn’t have accepted his ring, or given him one of my own if I hadn’t accepted that already. He loves me and makes me happy, and I enjoy who I am with him around. I don’t approve, but it stops there. That’s enough for me.”
