Rafiq can very quickly one-shot people with commander damage if left alone with a few auras. Therefor the goal of this deck is to engineer a situation that forces that to happen. Evasive Auras such as Unquestioned Authority and Spirit Mantle ensure attacks get through, while defensive effects like Hammer of Nazahn and Hyena Umbra protect Rafiq. Removal like Winds of Rath and Divine Reckoning also help keep the board clear enough for Rafiq to do his thing.

Another advantage of auras over equipment, other than price, is enabling an enchantress subtheme. Powerful card advantage engines like Enchantress’s Presence and Mystic Remora allow constant draws (at the risk of decking oneself if not careful). Ramp and Removal such as Utopia Sprawl and Imprisoned in the Moon trigger everything that cares about enchantments. And Sigil of the Empty Throne provides a powerful backup win condition. Various randomly powerful effects also become available; Karmic Justice and Hanna among others.
