So the winter has set in, its getting bloody cold again, I'm got a lovely case of man flu and I really could do with something to pick me up, but you know what I don't think I need to goto any doctor as someone has dropped a perfect prescription through my door, the instructions contained are play loud and bounce and soon you'll be dreaming of hot summer days and grinning like a loon. That drug that I've been so thoughtfully provided is one of music, not just music, but jump-up on your feet, shake what your mamma gave you music. Ladies and gentlemen forget what's going on outside for the next 3minutes and 46 seconds the summer's back it's ska time.

I love poppy punky, jumpy ska, I love to unshackle the blues cast them aside and indulge in the most infectious sound known to man and quite frankly I love TrueBeat. Shanty Town is exactly what I need right now a contagious ball of energy with a massive sing/holler-along hook, a bouncy beat and a shed load of attitude. Shanty Town is a massive (yeah fuck it I'm stealing from the clubs) tuunnnee, it's got it all there's a punky riff riff an elastic bassline and a damn addictive vocal that'll have fans of ska drawling.

Oh and don't think that Shanty Town is some one off, oh hell no, TrueBeat have added one catchier than the common cold (or man flu in my case) live rendition of Bounce, a song that as the name suggests will have you propelling yourselves skyward in an act of unbridled joy. Bounce had me instantly recalling Kicking Pigeons by Rhythm & Booze firm favourites Spunge and that's praise indeed coming from me!!

So I've listened to this single a good few times now and I'm starting to feel a little brighter, all I need now is for someone to send me a copy of TrueBeats album and I'll be happy as larry.

London ska-punks TrueBeat announce details of new single, ‘Shanty Town’ + UK dates

 London ska-punks TrueBeat are back with a brand new single this December 20th, in the form of an old favourite, Shanty Town. Their own brand of effortless ska, groove-laden reggae and heavy rock is committed again to tape for the new single which also features the B-Side ‘Bounce’.

 Vocalist/ guitarist Tom explains why they’ve decided to release this track from the TrueBeat vault;

 ‘Shanty Town was one of the first songs the boys ever wrote as a band, the upbeat verses dropping into reggae choruses typifying the flexibility of TrueBeat's sound.
