Do You Use the Music Feature in TRP3?
I assign my character[s] music AND listen to the music of characters I RP with
I assign my character[s] music but do NOT listen to others' music
I do not assign my character[s] music but DO listen to others' music
I do not assign my character[s] music OR listen to others' music
I use TRP3 but didn't know it had music available
I do not use TRP3 / vanilla extract / I'm bald / Nuance
My personal TRP no-go's
I love to check out other people's profiles. But for myself, there are a few things that will make me move along rather than wanting to read them through. Off the top of my head:
1. Default Personality Traits. AKA this:
Please give your characters some flair. Some PERSONALITY. Figure out what colors you feel resonate with them. Settle on a theme of sorts and go with it! You can even copy/paste the personality terms from the default, but just make it YOURS via creating custom traits. Seeing this is personally an eyesore and somewhat lazy. Here's an improved example from a passerby:
The bar's colors alone give it more oomph -- and again, you can use the default terms! ie. Paragon-Renegade / Cautious-Impulsive if you have a hard time coming up with them on your own. But that, in my opinion, is a lot better to look at. Go the extra mile and have the icons match if you'd like, too! ie. another passerby:
The blues and greens of either personality trait go well with the chosen icons. And it's more pleasing to the eye!
————————————————————————
2. At First Novel? (Glance) ie.
Oh my lord. Please do NOT do this. I personally have a big monitor, so if your "At first GLANCE" items are taking up a majority of it... Please, PLEASE consider paraphrasing it. I am NOT kidding when I say I've seen someone write out this length just to describe how they smell alone. It's too much. Maybe some prefer it, but personally, it drives me away and prompts me to close your TRP instantly. I do not want to read a part of your life's story in something I have to hover my mouse over to see fully. If you ask me, that's what the 'About' section is for. Consider squirreling away some info there instead if it's absolutely necessary to know. Emphasis on short 'n' sweet when doing your 'At first glance'!
————————————————————————
3. All 'About' YOU!
Again, bland, boring, default. Give your OC some love and brainstorm what really defines them. The 'About' section is where your creativity and writing skills can really shine!
Here is just a small improvement. We're changing the background from the default, changing the template, choosing its associated icons, and then filling the sections with their related text. That alone already makes a HUGE difference! And it only takes a little bit of time to experiment. Here's the "behind the scenes" for it:
(Remember to put {/col} at the end of the text that you want a different color.) If you've seen something in a TRP that you're unsure of how it was done, feel free to ask about it! I can do my best to fill you in with what I know and its examples. At the end of the day, just know that you're able to make your characters memorable. Each and every one of them is capable of being entirely unique. You've put time and effort into their creation thus far, so what's wrong with a little 'oomph'?

The Most Essential Roleplay Add-Ons in World of Warcraft (Part One)
Hello everyone! This is actually my first post to Tumblr (woohoo!) and I’m so happy to be here! I’m an avid World of Warcraft player, and more specifically roleplayer. My account here will be about WoW and my characters and the short stories I write about them, so I figured I’d go through my add-ons and share my favorite ones for roleplay purposes! Please enjoy!
Remember, this is also purely my opinion on the best add-ons, so if you don’t agree that’s totally fine!
For most for pictures, I will be using my main’s TRP3 profile, Nahama Tigerclaw. She’s a neutral pandaren rogue that works with goblins and pirates!
This post might be a little long, so it’ll be in multiple parts so stay tuned for Part 2! This one will be focused on:
1). TRP3 (Total Roleplay 3)
Of course this one is first! What is a roleplay character without a TRP3 profile? I have a LOT to say on this plugin, since it’s probably the most important for roleplayers. The next plugins on this part also have to do with TRP3, so stay tuned.
If you don’t know anything about this plugin, it’s an add-on that allows you to create a custom character profile that other players with the add-on can see, making the process of finding other roleplayers easier and allow others to see more information about your characters.
You can add things like full names, age, gender, pronouns, backstory, piercings, tattoos, an “At a Glance” section and so so so much more. It makes roleplaying so much easier!
(Nahama’s directory information, including her race, class, tattoos, pronouns, etc.!)
This add-on also gives you an IC (In Character) and OOC (Out of Character) option to set so people can know when you want to roleplay. There is also an OOC section you can fill out so people can know your limits which is extremely useful! Similarly, there’s a Currently section to let players know what your character is doing at the moment.
(Nahama’s “Currently” status and my OOC information!)
Another thing that this add-on does is give you options to change your language that your character speaks at will (sadly at the moment you can’t learn new languages, only racials) and a thing I personally love: NPC speeches.
NPC Speeches are how you can make an NPC talk like they normally would in game. I use this feature to make my warlock’s demons talk, certain mounts, NPCs I’ve made for roleplay sessions, etc. etc. Super handy!
(NPC tab from TRP3.)
Eventually, I want to make a whole post of series of posts on how I personally fill out my TRP3 profiles, since everyone does them different. Lots of people I know like theirs filled out as little as possible so you gain information through roleplay, but I personally like to jam-pack my profiles with information.

2). TRP 3 Extended
Like the title of this add-on suggests, this is an extension for TRP3 that adds many things to the plugin! It includes things like quests, items you can create, etc.Â
(As you can see here, the plugin adds more options to the original TRP3 bar including a questline, items page, and more.)
I honestly haven’t used this plugin too much. On my realm, Emerald-Dream, we don’t really use this add-on for anything. At the moment, I use it to see if other roleplayers have certain items in their bag or on their profile, similar to an At the Glance section. Using this add-on is 100% on my To-Do list and I’d love to incorporate it more.Â
This REALLY helps when creating roleplay campaigns, like DnD style. I highly suggest you learn more about it and give it a try! (and share what you learn with me... eheh)
(Nahama’s er, quite empty quest log.)

3). TRP3 Currently Frame
This a super helpful yet very lightweight plugin that I adore!
Currently Frame creates a little window on your screen so you can change the “Currently” section on your TRP3 easily and on a whim. I find this super useful when doing DnD style roleplays where we have health and I can quickly change HP: 4/4 to HP: 3/4 to help out my other roleplayers and DM.
I usually just plop this guy in the corner of my screen and move on with my day, changing my status depending on what my character is doing. It helps with the immersion!Â
(Nahama’s currently frame. I usually slap this tab with my TRP3 one in the bottom right corner out of my screen is it’s out of the way.)

4). KuiNameplates
This is the last plugin on this list, and the last one about TRP3, I promise! TRP3 is just such a handy add-on and I love having the most amount of information possible for myself and other roleplayers.
Actually, I used this plugin before I used it for roleplay purposes. I have it to track my DoTs and combo points easier and I just like the way it changes nameplates and enemy plates. But recently, TRP3 was updated to add compatibility with this plugin!
Now, you can use this plugin to have the IC name from someone’s profile appear over their name instead of the drab, normal UI. Super small change and lightweight, but it can come in handy when you’re at a roleplay event and multiple people are talking! It can be hard to keep track of people’s usernames if they are different from their roleplay names.
(This image is from the TRP3 official Twitter. I haven’t gotten enough people together yet at this time to really play with this myself!)

Thank you so much for the read! I love roleplay and my goal is to make it easier for more people to get into it, and these add-ons made a huge difference for me. If you like this sort of content, please follow! I’m going to continue to post things of this nature, and very soon, the Part 2 follow-up to this post so stay tuned! <3

A redraw for my WoW Priest uwuÂ
“MY TRP KEEPS WIPING!”
HERE’S HOW TO SAVE YOUR TRP PROFILES WITH NO HASSLE! No more filling in your TRP one blank at a time. Save the WHOLE thing and import it with one button! This guide is for Total RP 3. No additional addons are needed to do this, but you will need a word processor of some sort.
First, open your TRP window. Click “Profiles.”
Scroll to the profile you want to save and click the little arrow button!
In the dropdown menu, click “Export Profile.”Â
This gives you a wall of text to copy. Copy this text, open a word processor, and paste it WITHOUT FORMATTING. I recommend Notepad or Google Docs. (In Google Docs, the keystroke is ctrl+shift+V)
There you go. Now you’ve saved it.Â
Now, if you need to bring your TRP back after a wipe, do this:
Make a new profile, name it anything you want, and click the little arrow again. This time, click “Import Profile” from the menu.
Go find your wall of text and paste it into the box. Click “Okay.”Â
TRP will ask if you’re okay with replacing the content of the profile. With a brand new profile, this just means it’s going to overwrite the default icon, default name, default race, and default Roleplay Style options. All of these will be replaced with your old profile’s information. Good!
Click “Accept.” The blank profile will now be your old, imported profile. Your TRP has been rescued.Â
NOTES:
NEVER paste your export code into your word processor without using “paste without formatting.” Word processors often decide to “correct” mistakes without asking, and we don’t want the export code changed in any way.
If you want to save your profiles piece by piece in a document so you can still read it, sure! Just make sure you have a separate place in the document to paste the export code.Â
Keeping your TRP backup up to date is easy. Just highlight your old export code, get the export code directly from your TRP, copy it, and paste it over the old one. (without formatting, as always)Â
Also, YES! THIS WILL SAVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP SETTINGS WITH OTHER PROFILES! Your character relationships are saved per profile, and the export code keeps them as well.Â
Why have I become such a fan of TRP3 in the past few months, and started using it over other RP things?Â
Oh, no reason.Â
