what you donāt know canāt haunt you, @trickerxlife: minjun.
to say that he detests this kind of gathering is too much of an understatement. doesnāt know what purpose he serves there, truly, but this time, in lieu of his fatherās presence, heās been asked for once to come. it was based upon requests of plenty, according to his fatherās secretary, and he was advised to attend on the basis that heās going to inherit the company in less than two years ā if everything is going according to plan. in the meantime, he is working the nine-to-five job as their recent employee, ascending from his supposed āinternā status. this was all acquired from his fatherās plans, who⦠for someone whoās as distant from his own son, has taken the time and resources to build a faux persona idealized for uriel. he wants to scoff at it sometimes, at how risible it is. yet, heās resigned to this fate, as long as his father doesnāt meddle with any of his private business. and so far, that one has been well-kept.
tonight, however, that somehow becomes fragile, and thatās exactly why he loathes being amidst these people. trying to pry into his personal aspects, carefully but also manipulatively, it feels like theyāre attempting to find those needle holes to insert themselves into his life, somehow. and his later business. he has always harbored the suspicions over that towards everyone, especially those who know him as the successor of the jung corporation. and tonight, everyone in the ballroom seems to notice, especially since he doesnāt show up in this kind of events often. this is the kind of social anxiety that he understands tends to happen to his lover, and he shares the sentiment. the stray thoughts lead to the filaments in which he wonders why his lover hasnāt read his messages since the afternoon.
then again, itās understandable. minjun is more than just busy most of the time, itās almost like an oasis when they can spend lazy evenings with just the two of them. he sighs, once again checking his phone to see if thereās a reply. none. it places a fleeting frown on his face, but he doesnāt let it linger, knowing that people might scrutinize him sometimes. he offers a smile to the woman who tries to strike a conversation with him, asking if heās busy. he doesnāt turn it down, wanting to keep his mind occupied. asked about the companyās prospect, he can answer eloquently, comprehending the nature of it just fine through briefings and whatnot. he might not sit on top, pretending to climb the ladder just like anyone else, but his father is no fool.
and heās in the midst of the conversation when a man interrupts, bringing another face into the viewā and the man is the host of the night, so he cannot escape. āāsee, i told you these men look alike!ā he chuckles, telling the woman. thatās when uriel freezes, for when he turns his head to meet the supposed stranger, his eyes catch none other than his loverās, mirroring that of his own, just as startled. āi believe you have known him from his works, mr. jung,ā the man addresses him, and for uriel, it starts blurring into background noise. he swallows. āmr. kim, let me introduce you to mr. jung, the heir to jung corp.ā thatās it. thatās when minjunās features change, understandably, and for that uriel feels like thereās a knife twisted at the pit of his stomach. āi can explain,ā he says under his breath almost too rapidly, catching his own hitched inhale as he grabs minjunās arm in case minjun wants to leave him right then and there.
