"Is it supposed to be that colour?" You ask, looking at the cloud of smoke Hope created in a trial of a spell she's doing. "Yes...no...I'm not exactly sure" she waves her hands to dissipate the smoke from the air.
"Well, that's reassuring," you mumble before picking up a marker to continue coloring in your coloring book. Should you be doing school work instead? Yes. But are you going to? Absolutely not. "Don't you have two essays to write and a quiz to study for?" Your older sister looks at you, raising a brow.
"Yep, so what?" You don't even look up from coloring in a car on the page. "Well, because-" she cuts herself off, knowing this is a losing battle. "Nevermind, keep coloring."
You smirk to yourself, picking up another marker. You continue your movements until you're suddenly no longer sitting on the couch, instead crashing into a cobble stone ground. "Ow! Son of a bitch!" You exclaim.
To your right, Hope is beside you, except already on her feet. "Hope, what the hell? What happened?" You get up off the ground, standing up beside her.
Taking in your surroundings, your eyes widen, matching Hope's. "Where the hell are we?!" You exclaim. You sharply turn to face her with a glare, "What the hell did that stupid spell you were doing do?!"
People pass by the two of you, some giving odd looks at your clothing, but nothing that out of the ordinary. You notice the building in front of you. "The clock tower?" you mumble. "We're still in Mystic Falls. Why did your spell take us outside into town?" You turn to your older sister.
"I'm not exactly sure, but we're breaking multiple school rules. We're not supposed to leave the property without permission." Hope looks around the town square as well.
"I can live with that" You shrug, not caring about the school rules Alaric has. "Seriously?" Hope turns back to me, deadpanning. "Yes, 'seriously'. Why is jackass Ric in charge of a supernatural school. He's a fucking human. Plus! why even start a fucking school for supernatural beings? People have had these abilities for over a millennia, bet they didn't get forced to go to schools for it." You grumble. Your older sister and your family has heard this shpiel of yours in many different forms over the years.
"Like you actually pay attention in class, or go to class, or do the work" Hope raises a brow. "True, but I'm still forced to be there-whoah." Your eyes divert from your sister's. "What?" She turns to look in the direction you're facing, confused.
You pull her back to face you. "Stefan Salvatore is like dead-dead, right?"
"Yes, he's dead. Why?" She asks, even more confused now. Why the hell are you asking about a dead vampire that died when you were only a few years old?
"Cause I think I just figured out what your spell did- come on!" the next thing Hope knows is your practically dragging her over to the mystic grill until you let go to open the door and assume she'll follow you inside, which she does. "What are we doing here-mmph" you cover her mouth "Shh!" and drag her to one of the booths in the back, where you take your hand away from her mouth.
"What the hell?" She looks at you bewildered. "Oh, relax. We both know that's not the weirdest thing I've done." you give her a pointed look, speaking quietly, making her sigh and deflate, knowing you're, sadly, correct.
"Okay, well why are we here? and what do you mean you think you figured out what my spell did? and what's with the question about Stefan Salvatore? He's dead." She says quietly, going along with whatever Mission Impossible cover thing you're doing now.
"Well, he's not dead. At least not now" You say, looking over to the pool table. "What do you mean?" She says, beginning to think you're losing your damn mind.
You scoff quietly before physically turning her head so her eyes land on the people at the pool table, one of them being Stefan. "He doesn't look so dead to me, well beside from being a vampire. And look, there's also Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena. And at the bar there's Damon and Jackass Ric." You turn her head slightly more so she's looking at the bar top before taking your hand back.
"What the hell." She mutters before turning her attention back to you. "Exactly. Now, my guess is you somehow did a freakily weird spell that sent us back in time OR you brought back the dead." You tell her simply. "I'm going with the time travel one, since I'm pretty sure they wouldn't all be acting so casual plying pool is Stefan just got back."
"Oh my gosh. What have I done." She groans into her hands. "I'm guessing this isn't a good time to mention the fact on we don't know how to get back to the future?" You ask while having a grin on your face.
"You're having way too much fun with this." Hope looks up and glares at me, but can't hold it for long since a waiter comes by to take our order. "Jeremy?" I immediately say, recognizing him.
"Yeah...Have I met you before?" The teen is confused. Shit. "Oh, no, sorry, just- I'll have fries please." stupid, stupid, stupid, you berate yourself silently. "Alright, no problem." Jeremy writes the order down, thinking it strange, but it's not like I seem like a threat (at least to him). He then turns to Hope, who snaps out of her shock. "Uh, I'll have a peanut butter blast milkshake please" she says.
"Got it." Jeremy nods before leaving to go put the order into the kitchen.
"Alright, so I sorta slipped up, but it's not like he really realized" You say. "Yeah, it'd be worse if it were someone like, oh, I don't know, Dad?" She says, knowing we both know how our father was when he was in Mystic falls around this time. "Yeah....that would be bad." You mumble.
"But what year was he here? cause we could be here before he came or after he left." You say. "I think he was here in 2010 and 2011." Hope tries to remember from what she read of those books that Alaric wrote. (Those same books of which I burnt in the big fire place after I found them).
"Alright, you stay here. I'll be back in a sec." You say and slide out of the booth. Before Hope could stop you or say anything you're already out of ear shot (not counting the supernatural hearing you both have, but she knows you still won't listen).
You walk over to the bar where there's a calendar hung up on one of the walls. As you stand a few feet away, you read October 2010. Your eyes widen just a bit, but you immediately school your emotions and facial expression when someone clearly tries to get your attention.
"Hey!" Someone exclaims. And when you turn to the side where the voice came from, you're met with Damon and Jackass looking at you, But only Damon is the one who seems excited. The other guy just looks like he's tired of his friend's antics.
"Yeah?" You answer, not seeing the problem with doing so. "You new to town?" The vampire asks.
"Not exactly" You answer, which technically isn't a lie. "Why are you curious. I'm a seventeen year old girl and you're a hundred seventy year old vampire" You smile innocently. "If you wanted to compel and eat me, you would've already instead of making small talk."
This gets both of them to straighten. "You're a vampire?" Damon asks. "Kind of. But, I'm busy, I have something I gotta deal with."
"Hold on-" Alaric opens his mouth, only just seeing a high school girl and nothing supernatural about you. Until you lift your fist and punch him, effectively making a crunching sound come from his nose.
"Nice to meet you Damon" You smile sweetly to the vampire before walking back to the booth where Hope has been watching and listening to the whole thing.
Hope's mouth is slackened in disbelief when you come back to the table. she kicks your leg as soon as you sit down. "Hey!" You exclaim. "What the hell was that?!" She whisper yells. "I thought you were just going to see what year it is!"
"I did, but then Damon started talking and I didn't really want to deal with his shit, and then Jackass opened his mouth. And well, I took an opportunity that I've been waiting for, for SO long."
"So much for not drawing attention to ourselves." She mutters. "In my defense, you never told me not to draw any attention to us." You mention, making her raise a brow at you. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry. But I saw the date. It's October eleventh, in 2010. They have bigger problems than two new girls in town. They have dad to worry about." You say.
"Y/n, we need to be careful. We cannot be caught by our dad. He was super paranoid back then-now? not that he isn't now, but still. But he'll know something is up if he meets us. It's not exactly like we're ordinary. You're a complete tribrid, and I've unlocked only my wolf and witch sides." She tells you seriously.
"Alright, alright, I promise." You sigh. "I'll try my best not to find our batshit crazy and paranoid dad who at this moment is walking into the restaurant..."
