It could be worse. It could always be worse, without a doubt. Eventually these trees will open up a hidden mouth and swallow him whole. Or maybe these apples actually contained some demon-worm inside them that would melt the cerebrum out of his ears. Connor was prepared for that, too. So when they didn’t, he was almost flabbergasted. Almost. Connor wasn’t too convinced about that, avoiding every stick and leaf he saw in fear that if he snapped it under his feet the earth would devour him whole like an untouched ancient bear-trap. Frankly, it the was the premise of safety that seemed to unnerve him more into a silent disquiet.
Connor shoved his hands into those orange-coated pockets, back hunched over as he hoped to avoid any low-hanging branch ( that could be potentially covered in thorns. ) His head hung just as low as his expectations, a hurried mutter from under his breath: ❝Weird tree, weird tree, weird tree, weird tree— where the hell — anomaly my ass, the only weird thing about this is that it’s not on fire. Or, deforested or whatever capitalists get up to.❞
❝.. Aaand I’m talking to myself. Great, nice, cool.❞
