A view so few get to experience unless they are food, foe, or veterinary professionals. This is "Bacardi", one of our resident female Amazon Tree Boas (Corallus hortulanus) displaying typical defensive behavior. A very clear view of the oral cavity shows the powerful muscles and rows of long, needle-like teeth that this arboreal snake uses to capture its preferred prey mid-flight- bats & birds.  This species is completely harmless, but tries its best to compensate with a mean attitude to match their beauty.

I LOVE IT when our customers send me updated photos of our babies!! This guy was born solid, Smokey orange and has morphed into a tri-color phase beauty!! Yes, he's eating a baby quail. As always, prey variety is essential for keepers concerned enrichment and above average wellness :)

LOVE IT when my customers post updated pictures of my babies. I would NEVER have guessed on a transformation like this! He's only going to get better, Joshua! Handsome tricolor boy. 😍 I'm realizing that all of Merlot's babies have crazy changes like this and most are stupid calm. Can't wait to see what the new kids look like in 3 more weeks or so! On the plus side, our new home has allowed us to pay closer attention to our animals' breeding requirements. This is now the BIGGEST breeding season we have had to date! However, we are definitely going to need more room for babies @.@ Tigers and calicos and bi-colors, OH MY! All of these pairs, if they take, will result in fall babies. T-5wks left on Merlot, our crazy non-visual calico girl who throws 4 distinct types of calico lol (yes, I'm confused too). She has finally moved off of her heating source, so she's progressing well. After a much deserved 1.5 calendar years off, I have a feeling she's going to be an incredible mama. Still hurting, but images like this remind me that life goes on.
