❝ What has the world done to you...? ❞

        THERE WAS A SUDDEN CALMNESS TO TRAVERSING THE WOODS, a calmness she had not felt in ages. Decades of dissonance and transgression had been erased — like some great baptismal turn of events, she had been washed of her sins and bloody hands and was allowed to start again. For once, she was happy; all thanks to two brothers. 

The youth thought back on them fondly — missing the company of someone other than her own relations. But if not for them, she would’ve still been enslaved to the woods. They were where they needed to be and that was all that mattered. All was right with the world.

                                                                     ( or so she thought... )

Her jack russel maintained a presence a few feet in front of her as she fought to keep up with him in the underbrush. Had she not been so focused on watching her footing, she would’ve noticed he had long since stopped, eyes locked on something between the trees. He called out with a commanding bark as she closed in, startling her in the process. Standing at his side she desperately searched for what alerted him. 

IT’S CUTE BUT YOU WAIT, YOU JUST WAIT

♚ —— CRIMSON ORBS widened upon seeing the other, visage scrunching up in confusion. He had been certain that he was the only one in the  almost forest-like park. After all, it was midnight. The only way in was to { break } in, like he did.

it is not a rarity for the twins to touch the darkness of the woods, & they do not care for the whispers of what might be held in them, because they are always watching. but sometimes, there are places too dark to see properly, & that is where the fun is. the brother had insisted on naming this an expedition, preparation backed & brought with a notebook to observe. he walks forwards, a few feet in front of her, with wide & shining eyes. he lets his gut lead the way, lets all that he cannot see beckon him. 

& then he falls to a quiet whisper, before he turns his head over his shoulder to speak to her.

a slow drag of a smile paints itself like blood in water upon his features, & he sways forwards in his movements, voice humming in a soft & twisted tune. he bears a sing-song voice, sickly charming & grossly inhumane. & his feet tap against the crushed leaves, following down a pathway he’d taken not too long ago-- & once more, in a hollow intonation,
