thinking about Nina and Matthias and how Nina will not let go of him because she can see through the rough fur he puts on, to the traumatized boy behind it all

kaz- big ass maine coon looking cat. it’s probably not a maine coon, it’s just some stray that broke in to his office once and now it lives there. deep down he loves it bc it’s got so much fluff he can pet it without gloves and it doesn’t even resemble the feeling of skin.

inej- birds, duh. in true sailor fashion she has an african grey parrot who never shuts up and talks to all of her crew, and back home she has her crows that always know she’s back when they see the boat dock, and immediately start crowding the barrel again. kaz uses them as a sign she’s come home.

jesper- he has two dogs, a great dane and a dachshund. they are best fucking friends. he got the dachshund first and carried her around all of the time, so naturally when the great dane saw this she also decided she needed to be carried around all the time. and he could never deny his baby, so yes, he also carries the great dane around.

wylan- he doesn’t really have pets, he’s busy enough talking care of jesper’s dogs, but he does have a bee and butterfly garden as well as humming bird feeders outside. once he painted a caterpillar at multiple stages in metamorphosis, and that painting hangs in the dining room now.

nina- she’s got a snake. maybe two snakes. she really likes snakes. something about being a heartrender makes her really good with animals, which she uses to her advantage when it comes to pets. her snakes do not stay in enclosures majority of the time, seeing as they’re usually on her.
