Vladivostok to Moscow. Picture from a hard day’s ride in Siberia. Traveling along the Trans-Siberian Road between these VERY distant cities 12 years ago, I was able to meet and talk with the average person on a daily basis. Nothing but kind and helpful people. When the discussion turned to politics, the people in Siberia were very displeased with Putin and his illegal ascension to the position of present-day dictator (their words). It appears, from what I am reading, is that tide changed and people are happier with him now. I wonder if that is true? It’s hard to comprehend being from outside Russia and the current war against Ukraine. One thing I can comment on, with authority, was the poverty of the average person and how little they had and how they struggled. #Irkutsk and Indigenous Peoples: Remembering friendlier times in travel Russia and Siberia! A blast from the past of 12 years ago when traveling across Russia seemed pretty easy. This picture is just when I broke down and my starter gave out — on a fairly new motorcycle. I had the best help anyone could ask for with a friendly motorcycle group who watched my every move - through unofficial channels of communication, put me up in their homes, and shared their passion of motorcycling. Trans-Siberian Railway: My blast from the past of 12 years ago when traveling across Russia seemed pretty easy. I can say that met the nicest people along the way who were all very helpful and kind. Why is it the the politicians do not represent the wishes of the common citizen — but we have seen this theme for thousands of years with the rise and fall of empires.
