I don't think people in Okhay City are aware Petey is trans, they just see him as a cis guy.

This sound like a repeat of the first day with Grampa, but as I said yesterday, I prefer my headcanons as canon compliant as possible.

But I also think the city will be like that for two reasons.

First is that Petey socially transitioned really young. Bonus headcanon, I think he was Li'l Petey’s age when he discovered he was trans and that's why Li'l Petey came out of the machine as a kid and not a newborn.

And second is because everyone is dumb as fuck and see weird stuff in the daily without batting an eye xd I think Petey can be pregnant and people of the city will be like 'Hey cis guys can get pregnant now? Cool, is incredible how technology advances.'

Being a trans person in Okhay City must be easy as fuck. Petey must live in gender euphoria.

I also headcanon Police force is dumb enough to just fill his paperwork based on appearance alone and that's why he is send to Male Cat Jail.

Or 5 times Dogman learned something new about Petey trough Li’l Petey and one time that remind him they are different.

Summary: Petey sighed and then munched the terrible sandwich as best as he was able to. He got all the intend to smile back at Greg, to lie to him, to say it was good and just prepare his stomach for a whole sandwich of what he just ate, but he was unable to do any of that.

Because one second to another, his mouth, throat and he can swear even his stomach started to burn.

Everything inside of him burned.

Summary: Work leads Petey to spend almost a month in Okhay City (Okhay town in his opinion) and a scam forces him to live with a dog who is as handsome as he is insufferable.

Luckily, he just have to stay until Christmas… Right?

Summary: El día 25 de septiembre a las tres con cinco de la tarde testigos afirman haber visto a Petey el gato caminando cerca de la escuela de la mano de su hijo, Li'l Petey. Riendo y hablando, presuntamente yendo camino a casa.

Luego nadie volvió a saber de ninguno de los dos.

Decir que Dogman estaba devastado no alcanza a cubrir la realidad de su situación.

I already said on the other posts that I think Petey would live in gender euphoria and that he don't mind dressing as a woman since is a disguise for him. Well, that doesn't mean he doesn't get gender dysphoria.

I don't see him using a dress on his wedding, for example. That day he is supposed to be himself, I do think it would make him uncomfortable.

Something similar about being called something femenine while being himself. (AKA when he is not in disguise)

Ex: Li'l Petey saying something like 'if Dogman is my dad, then you are my mom?' (Innocently, of course) would make him feel awful.

He also loves his mom but simply can't style his fur like her because he feels like that will make him look too feminine. (To me, Grace is the peak of feminity for Petey)

And finally, the biggest moment of dysphoria for him would be... While pregnant.

I love so much the concept of Petey being pregnant and also love Detey being happy but I can't help but think he would have some really bad moments while pregnant.

One part dysphoria. One part generational trauma.

He love and trust Greg but for some reason he can't help but fear he will become different when the kid arrives. (I think Grampa was nice with Grace until they had Petey)

And one part abandonment issues too.

Same stuff. He knows he is being irrational, but the fear of Greg leaving is instinctual.

And my headcanon to that is just... He doesn't. He doesn't know his son is trans, as far as he is concerned he have a cis boy lol

As funny as it may be having Grampa being a piece of shit but not a bigot (Big trope with villains that I love) or have him deadnaming Petey as I have seen in a fanfic or two, I think it would be way funnier that he didn't even know Petey’s deadname

I recall in one comic he called Li'l Petey by the wrong name and I can see him doing the same when Petey was little and Grace correcting him, until one day she started to tell him 'Petey' instead of the deadname and he stops for a second and is like

"Wait, is a boy or a girl?

"A boy, dear"

And just keep going like normally lol

It also worth noting I do think Grampa have a drink problem so that's why it was so easy to gaslight him lol

I don't know if I headcanon him eventually finding out, but it would be quite hilarious that he wants to deadname Petey just to notice he can't remember what they called him at birth

I don't headcanon Petey using testosterone. Mostly because in Dogman's world Male and Female cats have the same type of body so I don't think is necessary (I know is a kid's book but I have seen lots of kid's media using boobs to differentiate gender) so, in the end, the big difference is what they have between their legs.

But also I think he get some gender validation based on the fact that he looks like his dad.

I think is frustrating for him to thanks his dad for something, and there are some days he wishes he have his mom's fur pattern, but the fact that he looks 'as manly as' his dad helps him to like how he looks, while hating his dad at the same time, is a little a conflicted feeling lol of course he doesn't want to look exactly like him, but looking like 'a male cat' helped a lot, specially in his teen years.

I do think he get body dysphoria sometimes tho, but I will talk about it in another post.

However, if we are talking about human AU, I 100% support him using testosterone and getting a top surgery. And in that scenario would be quite a nightmare wake up one day and discover he looks like his dad.

So, I like to make my headcanons as canon compliant as I can (Can't always be like that) and there is moments in the comic books and the Artbook of the movie where Petey disguises as a woman and doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

So here's my take, I think he doesn't mind because he doesn't usually wear clothes so everything he put on is labeled by himself as 'disguise' instead of 'women clothes' or 'man clothes'. He disguise as a woman, he is not a woman, is just a disguise.

btw she also likes candles if that helps, do what you want with it, it's fine by me. a red, white, and black theme with stars could also work.
