I stripped to my underwear and took the plunge Where I met the water I met love and acceptance from the kind of people that make summer magical I stared up while the stars spun around me to enter the world where the night would happen We connected the dots of the constellations we recognized The illusions of the stars that flickered out thousands of years before Yet we still saw their light We dunked under the water and searched for another pair of lips When we learned they had found each other we surfaced gasping for air Our smiles reached ear to ear and laughs burst out of us until our cheeks and our sides ached in the best possible way Chlorinated water filled our eyes and nostrils and blurred our entire world Yet everything was crystal clear and filled with innocent ecstasy We talked about how the stars make us who we are How sometimes air and water clash and Gemini and Pisces don’t coincide Funny how the stars can affect us Our love for the stars, our love for each other, our love for ourselves Although space and it’s entirety is enormous, it controlled our everything tonight I guess that’s what happens when you get high on starlight
The Night I Got High On Starlight
